About This Game

A 2D car-combat shooter with rogue-lite elements.

Carsteroids is a challenging top-down shooter set in a dark future. In the past, humanity colonised the asteroids to gather resources. Now, that place is a set for a violent car-combat game show, where all the pilots and the fighters gather to find their fortune.

Inspired by the "'90s 16-bit era machines" and the "arcade machines", the game is concentrated on the player's skills to win the impossible tournament and to proceed with the story.

Update: The developer has updated to game to address some of my concerns. That is *very cool*. 'Easy Mode' has been added, which is still very hard.

RE: Unapproachable Controls: Slight turns are now possible, and a fun drifting mechanic has been implemented. This is a big help.

RE: Powerups and road hazards look similar. Helpful icons have been added over power ups that help differentiate them from hazaards.

RE: Death walls. The walls of the arena electrocute you, and cause damage to your car. A front end collision with a wall is basically a death sentence. This is still a frustrating way to end a match.

Carsteroids is coming along well, but it still feels like an early access game. It's not quite fun yet, though it definitely has the potential to get there.

I am giving this game a positive review based on my experience with the developer, and my confidence in the future of this game.
