It took over twenty years to get another Leisure Suit Larry game that stood toe to toe with the originals, but it was worth the wait.. A good take on the classic Leisure Suit Larry. Well worth the price for the time it takes to get through.. Underwhelming in comparison to the very very old Larry games. Still a bit better than the new ones. One very very cringy cut scene somewhere at two thirds of the game. But it's ok for a bored weekend.. A simple but well done adventure game for those with some nostalgia for the series. If you haven't played the previous games, or didn't enjoy those games, this probably isn't a game you would enjoy. The game really leans into the satire when it comes to modern life, and does a good job of portraying Larry as a stranger in a strange land. It gets a little silly near the end, and could probably have stood to be a couple hours shorter. There are a lot of inventory puzzles, but only a few use the moon logic of the past. To their credit, there is a direct acknowledgement in the game in one of these situations. While there is also a fair amount of repeatedly travelling to the game locations, its mostly quick and painless. Overall, an enjoyable 10 hours that is light, easy, and good for a few laughs.. Well this was a terrific surprise! The humor is quite on point, enough smut as expected. Larry gets the usual treatment but now everyone besides him is the product of our current schitzofrenic times. It is hilarious, characters are decently written and the puzzles are neither too easy or absurdly hard.. This is my first Steam review, and I'm writing as someone who has played the Larry games since the early '90s and thought the franchise as more fun than timeless. (Note: I've played every one at least 10 times!) The series NEVER was in good taste or destined to live on as one of the top adventure game series - it's just a good, tasteless time. No, this isn't your traditional Larry game. No, Larry doesn't look like he has in the past few games. No, this likely isn't going to please the people looking for the "classic Larry" experience. No, Al Lowe isn't involved (and he shouldn't be - he's enjoying retirement!). Every classic brand has to pass the torch at some point to survive. And while I was skeptical if we needed another Larry game, I can say THIS IS A DELIGHT. I'm not going to criticize or mull on every minute detail. Though I'm a journalist, I'm not a reviewer by trade. But I will say that this is what we needed if Larry was ever to return. A new age. A reboot. I've wanted to explore Lost Wages more since I played the first game as a kid. And the remake later. And even later, the remake of the remake. I'm glad to see people passionate about the franchise have let me do that. Are the jokes all hilarious? No (though I never fully dug Al's humor style). Are the puzzles all user-friendly and fair? No. But hey, the same goes for ALL Larry games. Al Lowe wasn't perfect, and neither are the folks at CrazyBunch. BUT I'm astounded at the quality and translation to American culture. It's fun to see Larry in the new age and explore more of Lost Wages. It's really cool to see contemporary pop culture lampooned. And I have to say, it's amazing to see a German team really hit the nail on the head continuing a classic American franchise. You'd barely know the game wasn't developed by Americans. Classic Larry fans might not find this their cup of tea. But those who grew up with Larry and have an open mind - and themselves have had to deal with and grow up in a changing digital world - will appreciate this. I started out skeptical and soured, but 3/4 through, I'm loving this game. And I hope more come. It's not perfect, but hey - it's Larry rebooted, and it works IMHO. Repeated: It's not perfect, but hey - NEITHER IS LARRY OR WERE HIS GAMES BEFORE!!! (P.S. Jan Rabson's role in the game was not known to me before I booted up - it is SO GOOD to have him back. And I hope he comes back for - and the team develops - more installments.) (P.P.S.. The new LSL adventure is a very enjoyable adventure game and a suitable return to form for the old hero. Although some of the humor is less subtle than the original Al Lowe adventures, it works for the most part and most of the puzzles are enjoyable. Some of the gay scenes feel a bit off-character for Larry, but it's understandable that the developers would want to cover this topic in this day and age. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and hope that the game is commercially succesful so that we can have more Larry adventures in the future.. Good throwback to the original
