I hate to be the odd man out. But this is the first legitimately negative review for this title.) This free short story is one-part of a two-part plan and is about 30-40 minutes long from my experience (slow reader). Both parts 1 & 2 are intended to be presented in 2 formats each, Visual Novel (or VN) and Animation. Logically, this review is for the VN version of Runeous Part 1. Personally, it took me about an hour to see all paths. To be frank and with all due respect to the team who developed this particular title, I'm not really impressed. Although the story started in a decent manner, the bickering of the two narrators left an awful taste in my mouth. (Why does there need to be more than one narrator? If they don't cooperate, it just falls apart.) However, I may just be spoiled by other VN projects. I personally believe this one missed its mark. PROS: + Great scenery backgrounds + Skip works when you're not in-window + Character art is.decent CONS: - Story feels generic - Narrators constantly bickering - Occassional grammatical errors - Some character portraits are not properly alligned - Lene's portrait when skipping the story had the wrong image (terrified Lene) - No BACK button - Music loops will get irritating - "Skip" is too slow - Character art may not be bad, but still bothers me I respect this small team for developing this title (along with their ambitions to complete the story), however, it's been a negative experience on my part. I can't say whether part 2 would be good or not, but aside from achievements and a free and easy 100%, I cannot in good faith recommend this title. 3/10 A visual novel that just didn't hit its mark.. Just finished Runeous: Part One. It's cetainly left me wanting more. I enjoyed it - the artwork is fairly unique and the music is perfect, plus it's free! Took me about 20 - 25 mins to get through. Looking forward to Part Two.. good game with good backgrounds , very well drawn characters with colorful and fun personalities including the two riders of the story , atmosphere songs , interesting story , good bug monster design ,well placed select how the story to continue . i recommend this game it was fun and i enjoy it enough to wish to make this comment holping the creators see it and be all nice and fuzzy inside for someone enjoying what they done.. It's short and free, but other than that. I didn't feel anything for the characters, except disliking them. The story has not yet really begun so there's not much to tell either. The bickering narrators are annoying rather than funny, and breaking the 4th wall is distracting when the rest of the story is supposedly serious. I'm not a fan of the art style for the characters, they always look either angry of monster-like, but the backgrounds look good. The music is on short and on repeat, it's boring. No volume control , by the way. Try it if you have less than an hour to lose, but it'd be better spent on another game.. Quite a decent VN given that it is free! Story is pretty generic, but has a decent twist at the end (though not unexpected).
