Sand blasting – Is It a Reliable Method to Remove the Paint?

Sand blasting is an inarguable best method for removing the paints as it promises you to break new ground in the present world. But was it easy without sandblasting to remove paint earlier? There have been developments regarding the design of similar technical products in order to deliver much more than the existing ones. But sandblasting has always proved one of the best technique which is not only used for paint removal but also useful for engraving even patterns on glass.

Let’s define sandblasting more clearly, Sandblasting is a process that involves the spray of an abrasive at high velocities on a specific surface. The abrasive that was used earlier in the primitive models of sandblasting equipments was sand. But it was causing the probabilities of a fatal affliction known as silicosis. So, now sand has been replaced with aluminum oxide, glass beads, pieces of coconut shell or walnut shell and a lot others.

Sandblasting is a technique that came as a revolution and it is implemented for coarsening or cleaning of various kinds of surfaces. Another significant feature of this Sand Blasting Machine is that it is useful to remove paint from various surfaces that is too without causing any visible damage to the inner layers. The equipments required for this Sand blasting process are an air compressor and a blaster nozzle.

How Can Paint Removal Be Made Easier?

This question has a very decent answer in the type of grits that are used in the sandblast equipment. There are many types of grits/abrasive which can be used for many kinds of applications. It further includes Glass Beads, Aluminum Oxide or Crushed Glass. The most commonly used abrasives that are used for paint removal are kept plastic in nature because they have to take off the paint without damaging the underlying surface. The Keynote of this process is the removal of paint and rust. Moreover, it can also be used for surface smoothening. Aluminum oxide is one of those abrasives which are used for the finishing of surfaces.

The efficiency of the Sand Blasting Machine depends on the layer of abrasive deposited over the substrate i.e. this is the deciding factor of the sandblasting efficiency. The 2 things need special attention in this process 1. The air pressure and, 2. Contaminations in the abrasive as these are pretty significant factors. However, the nature of materials which is to be cleansed and smoothened with this process increases the legitimacy of the process.

How a Sandblaster Does It All?

There is a need to select the sandblasting equipment perfectly for performing efficiently. However, the pressure that is to be maintained in the compressor is quite a demanding choice and you must keep attention on that. The reason behind this is that retention of adequate levels of pressure in the compressor provides an even and streamed flow of abrasives. Moreover, with plastic abrasives paint removal has been made easier. Plastic abrasives allow you to clear off the paint without a single scratch on the inner surface.

Sandblasting doesn’t deliver appropriate results if there are any insufficiencies in the sandblaster or if there is any discrepancy in the choice of abrasive for a required task. Sandblasting still holds the name “Sandblasting” despite the sand has been replaced with the alternate materials as abrasives.
