About This Game

Shadows Peak is an atmospheric, open-world horror game focused on exploration that doesn't hold your hand.

The main focus of the game is on the atmosphere, story, and exploration. Unlike most horror games, Shadows Peak allows you to explore large environments and progress through the game in a non-linear way.

You play as the writer Tom Blair who has decided to visit a mysterious place called Shadows Peak to gather materials for a new book about legends. A number of people have gone missing in Shadows Peak. Some people claim that they saw something that they shouldn’t have been able to see there and, of course, there are some dark legends surrounding this place.

Has the Alan Wake problem where core gameplay hinders rather than helps the experience.. This game is wonderful. If you get a chance, definetly pick it up. It scared the bajeesus out of me more than a few times. The story is fun. The gameplay is fun. The stuff you see is engaging and scary.

Also if your a fan of weird supernatural documentaries about aliens, ghosts, and/or cryptozoology this game is definetly for you.

Can't recommend it enough.. Shadow's Peak creates an atmosphere that's equally parts confounding and whismical, inspiring feelings of unease and dread while (oddly) offering a sense of inevitability that's almost.... tranquil, even in the context of the game's dramatically dark setting. Shadow's Peak is a beautiful game with loads of style and heart, and a back story that's compelling as it is vague. That said, I'm very much looking forward to playing the Final Chapter. Godspeed!. Update on game. Was very laggy with my old AMD 975. Replaced CPU with an AMD 8350 and game works perfect on maximum settings. Strange because 975 had no issues with any other game I have. Anyway, played the game a little more, good atmosphere, enjoying it atm. So far so good.. This game already has me on the edge of my seat and I've started a Let's Play that you can find here:

good cheap horror game.. This game is terrifying. I've played quite a few horror games in my day, but I did not expect going into this to get so scared. So much of this has to do with the amazing visuals mixed with the ridiculously spooky audio (the sound effects mixed with that constant drone really help make the game spooky). It's a bit of an adventure/puzzle/mystery sort of game and it's a psychological horror, the dev totally screws with you a lot. The story thus far is interesting though, I'm interested to see more of what lies in Shadows Peak, it's a great atmosphere for making some spooky myths come to life.

Would I recommend you buy this game? Yes. But only if you're sure you want to deal with waiting for another chapter to release for more content. $8 is a decent price for how much content this game currently has, but when future chapters are added it will be a steal. If you choose to wait for a sale, you won't be disappointed.
