About This Game

Slay is a turn based strategy game where your goal is to conquer the island by buying men and using them to capture your enemies' hexagons. By combining two men you can create a single more powerful man who is able to kill weaker men. The twist to the game is that the more powerful a man that you create is, the more expensive he is to maintain. Men cannot be un-bought so you must tread a fine line between building up your forces, and not being rashly ambitious. If you, like me, have been watching some Youtube videos about Slay... This is not the game you are likely looking for. It is a hollow shell of the original.. super addicting game. It seems like the AI got an upgrade so if you felt like the windows version was too easy, this should provide a challenge again since it adds one more difficulty level. It's not too obvious before you buy, but Sean added back in the feature to create custom maps to this version. This game never gets old. I probably have logged more hours played per dollar spent on this game than any other.. this is addictive. Very good strategic game. I'm another who has played this since the old Windows versions days. I'm enjoying this version on Steam so far. I would agree with others it would be nice to be able to Window it. Also I'd love to see some Steam achievements and\/or cards!. Actually this is pretty good.. Played game for the first day, it was fun.
Now the game wont even load up. I purchased it over the weekend its wednesday. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, verifying files, and searching the forums. Found another guy with windows 7 having this same issue other than that nothing, no answer. Idk. Hopefully this review will encourage a dev to respond. I'd like to be able to play the game I paid for.

Edit: This game works on my win 10 laptop, does not work on my win 7 desktop.. I'm another who has played this since the old Windows versions days. I'm enjoying this version on Steam so far. I would agree with others it would be nice to be able to Window it. Also I'd love to see some Steam achievements and/or cards!. Computer teams cheat by making captures that are supposed to be impossible, like taking a spearman with a spearman. At least on expert and above difficulty. Haven't seen it happen on begineer.. This is an inferior version of the old game. It not only looks worse but has far fewer islands. I quite enjoyed the demo version that is available on Sean O'Connor's website, and apparently you can still get "old Slay" there, but playing through this version (which appears to have originally been designed as a mobile app) has left a bad enough taste in my mouth that it might be a few months before I bother to get it.
