Game sucks. -Game option menu there is only 1 option, so why even create a submenu for 1 single config? -Sensitivity is insanely high by default. -The worst hud effect i ever seen in a game, it wobbles around with your camera, combine that with the high mouse sensitivity and you can't see sheet. -The first mission: shoot scrap in the scrapyard at waypoint, after shooting all visible scrap the mission still wasn't progressing. Unistalled.. It is weird underwater sci-fi thing. I tried fast battle where I shot some turret then boss "jumped" at me. It is some kind of simplified game with no content or did I just miss the controls instructions? I have no idea how to play this, there are some conversations in the beginning but other than that it does not interest me to play it further.. Ok so it seems it took me around 14 hours to complete the game, having some technical issues too. It's one of my firsts games ever so i wanted to finish it now that i'm grown, i can understand the game better from different perspectives rather than when i was 8 yo. I'll get into pros and cons fast. Pros: Unique style, first underwater fps. You start with a character that has his Succubus (ship) stolen and starts with the lowest ship. You can design unique ships by playing with whatever guns or augmentations you feel like, playing with torpedoes, buzzers, different kinds of guns that either affect the Hull or have EMP damage. The battles feel nice, you won't find it too easy to win every fight and you'll need to retreat sometimes. Cons: Sadly, there are a lot of cons. but even with them, the game is pretty enjoyable. The story is a bit hard to understand, there are a lot of dialogues with different kind of people and it got me to a point i was simply bored to understand some scientific ideas that i skipped them only so i can finish the game by barely understanding the main story and what happens for real in game. The game can be buggy, it can have errors. Saving the game very frequently can save you a lot. A very big problem is the lag input of your mouse. The game was released in november 2001. There were very old mouses with a very low dpi and the game didn t get any patch for that. The idea is that if you have a mouse with 800-3600 dpi, your mobility in game will simply freeze , then turn away instantly for 30-50 degrees, you don't get linearity. For this, i personally solved the problem by making my mouse go as low as possibile, to 100dpi and set the sensibility in game of the mouse to 45%. I found this configuration the best for me. If you fail a mission halfway or at 99%, you'll have to redo it again, which is a bit. annoying. I had to follow some different tips from the internet to understand the mechanics and what to do in certain situation as the game might provide some unusual experiences. One after another, we have a very good game, certainly nothing similar on the market today, the mechanics are still pretty good, the implementation feels nice.. AquaNox, believe it or not, is a sequel to Archimedean Dynasty. The same cast of character is back from that submarine combat game, but there have been some major changes in game play which will not sit well with anyone, let alone fans of the first game. Let me ask you this question: did you ever think your submarine would control better as a first person shooter? Not a flight simulator, more like a bozo in a diving suit. No? Well the makes of this game did! All of the placed turrets to shot all angles in the last game are gone, the only weapons are in the front of the sub. Marvel in horror as your sub PUT A WEAPON AWAY to fire the next! Thats right, you cant even fire torpedoes at the same time as your guns. Sadly many features which worked well with the directional guns and turrets of the game like quadrant armor, it doesnt quite work as an FPS. As you need to be facing the enemy to fire at them now you can only watch as your front armor disappears slowly, with barely a bit to any other side, and with no way to heal or repair during a mission until much later in the game. Unfortunately the AI isn't very good, and its easy to miss mission critical check points, forcing you to go back to find those spots wile your AI companions leave for whatever the next mark instead of supporting you. There is also no saving during a mission, and no save points. If you can stomach playing this game, enjoy. Your protagonist is a heroic soldier who was a hero in the last game. His name is Emerald, and he doesn't know what the Sun is.. A cool vehicular FPS, like Descent, but underwater. For it's time it had a good game engine often used as a benchmark. Story is interesting but gameplay is somewhat symplistic. Like it.
