Attributes of a creative person

A creative person often doesn’t think like a common man does. He has a different perspective to things which makes him create and blossom new ideas. A creative person is someone who introduces new ideas, products, theories and methods. To be a creative person is not easy but it isn’t that difficult as well. If you are someone who has a knack for something, it is your passion towards that thing that tends to draw your creativity.

The foremost thing to think like a creative person is to experiment. Keep experimenting on things you like. Even a child who is just born performs some elementary experiment to learn about the world and how things work around him. Ideally all variables in an experiment are controlled and in no circumstances you will get something that is uncontrolled. The fact is more severe and helps make a creative person move in the correct direction. The most important thing about any experiment is to get in inputs understand them and then work on deriving the output from those data sets. Understanding what output you can get from those inputs, guides you through that innovation process. You thinking start developing and you think in the creative person’s way. Take for example a child who gets promoted from class 3 to class 4. In one class he must have learnt about addition, and then he moves on to learn the average. During this learning process he never thinks about any such concepts. He just understands how to do addition and how to do average. But as soon as he moves to some higher standard and there is an application of this average his innovation mind comes into action and deriving inputs from what he had learnt in the previous classes he get on to find the output.

The second most important way to think like a creative person is to ask questions like a child. Understand the gap that exists in the market. For instance, lack of pay for assignment services. This brings in several doubts and if cleared you understand the problem in depth and now you can be ready to derive the output.  Take for example what happened in the case of Edwin Land, the creative person of Polaroid camera. The story goes in this way that he has gone on a holiday with his 3 years old daughter and he took a photograph of her there. The daughter then started asking why she cannot see the photograph taken by her father straight away. This made Edwin think about this and he discovered Polaroid camera. Thus, in this case we saw how a naïve question made someone think in a creative person’s way.

The third most important thing is to listen and then act. When the company Xerox was close to bankruptcy Anne Mulcahy was appointed as the CEO of Xerox. The first thing that she did was for the first ninety days she only travelled to the various offices of Xerox to listen to the problems people were facing. Then she started acting on the feedback that she received and the company’s fate was turned around by the introduction of innovative products and services.

And lastly the most important thing is to challenge assumptions by asking questions. So, basically these were the ways which will definitely make you think like a creative person.
