An ex-con assumes the identity of a murdered sheriff in the small town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he has some unfinished business.
A man has just been released from jail after serving a 15-year sentence. He sets out to find his former girlfriend, and tracks her down to Banshee, Pennsylvania, a small, peaceful-looking Amish town. When he gets there he is witness to the murder of the newly-arrived Sheriff, Lucas Hood. As he needs to start a new life, and nobody knew what the new Sheriff looked like, he assumes his identity. Little does he realize the danger he has put himself in. Meanwhile, his pre-prison past is catching up with him too.
Fantastic viewing, well done!!! I can't believe this is from the creators of True Blood, and what a great first season so far..

Mostly everyone that has watched the show will be buzzing to tell you how good the show is and how typically cliché it is NOT.. I got a bit bored of some of the comments about this show, highlighting minor story lines and using that as negative comments against the show, I am on episode 7 and I can safely say they rip through the cliché's which are the foundation of the show and prove themselves to set the standard of how shows should be made right now. Great plot, amazing cast, I want more more more...

I like the way they experiment with the show, and use different lenses to capture different scenes, like the police chase's and fighting scenes. My biggest worry is they will get way too experimental to the point of being unoriginal, and take away the edge this show has compared to the rest of them!! I look forward to watching the next episode. I would pay a lot of money to watch the next episode now!! Banshee, the first of several new mid-season shows to premiere, tries to bring something unique to the already crowded crime drama genre. While the final vote is still out the pilot gives some hope of it's potential success. That is not to say that there aren't any issues. The biggest of which is the base premise of the show and your ability to accept it and enjoy the ride. OK so a guy fresh out of jail on the run from mobsters who want to kill him for some reason leaves the state (parole officers tend to look down on that) in search of his share of the loot from heist that sent him to jail and his women goes to Amish country and with help of circumstance and his Asian cross-dressing super computer geek hairdresser friend becomes the new sheriff … and breathe. If that hasn't scared you off yet you may be in for some fun .

As a premium cable show it does have it's requisite allotment of sex and violence. Quality of production sit it some where between HBO and Starz. The pilot does feature one of the more intense, stunt heavy car chases I've seen on a TV show. Which is a good sign of their willingness to spend on the production of the show.

With solid acting and writing Banshee makes a good lead off batter for the mid-season premieres. While it didn't knock it out of the park , it defiantly makes it on base. We'll just have to see if the rest of the season can bring the show home for the score.
