Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman is in his 50's and has created the ultimate Batsuit but is no longer fully able to do the job so places the suit away and vows to never use it. Several years later and into the next century there's a new breed of criminal terrorizing Gotham City but Bruce has kept his vow. Terry McGinnis, a teenager whose father was killed because he was going to expose criminal activities at the company that he works for which just happens to be Wayne Enterprises. Terry comes across Bruce as he was being beaten by some thugs, he takes him to the mansion and he discovers the Batcave and the Batsuit; he takes the suit to get the people who killed his father. Afterwards Bruce decides to make him the new Batman and train him.
Fueled by remorse and vengeance, a high schooler named Terry McGinnis revives the role of Batman. Under supervision of an elderly Bruce Wayne, he fights crime in a harsh futuristic Gotham.

I was a HUGE fan of B:TAS. It was so dark, so brooding, so-Batman! So when BB premiered in the late '90's, I realized that after several seasons the original franchise had gone about as far as it could go. But I was still somewhat unsure of what to expect..

There was no need to worry: Even though BB was not quite as good as the original BTAS. It was certainly almost as good. Sure, it wasn't as Gothic, but that really wasn't the point. This was a new series, hipper, cooler, Definitely inspired by ' AKIRA ', and with a new Batman who could have passed for one of the Backstreet Boys!

But that coolness was tempered with the same depth from BTAS, such as when Bruce reminisces about The Old Days. It's enough to make you feel " Nostalgic ".

BB is the Definitive Late '90's animated TV series-and probably the best... This show is awesome! I was afraid it wouldn't be good since there was going to be a new Batman. I thought it might be like when DC tried to change Superman's suit. But it's not! Way to go Warner Brothers!

"Batman Beyond" takes place about 40 years after the "New Batman Adventures" series. At the time of the show's release a precise date was given as 2039. Meaning Bruce Wayne quit being Batman in 2019 (as seen in ''Rebirth''). This also means the episode, ''Epilogue'' takes place in the year 2054.
