All about that game screaming "We are love monkey series!". Especially the third (The Curse of Monkey Island). Graphics and stylistics, music and selection menu, separation on charters - not just resembling, its direct copy (Especially last part of game). But plot is different and voice acting is perfect.The weakest part of the game is the graphics and animation, it's often very pathetic and crummy. But if the secondary does not scare you (or you dont play third monkey game) - it's worth. Highly recommend.. A fun game. The locations felt a bit small at times, but entertaining characters and (appropriately for the genre) witty puzzles made for a fun several hours of play.. i love game. A great point-and-click adventure game! Darkestville Castle puts you in control of Cid, the demon of Darkestville, a villainous, EVIIILLLL mastermind who delights in making the lives of people as miserable as can be. The game uses the unique style of playing as the villain to create plenty of dark humor and some pretty fun solutions to certain puzzles. Overall, the story is pretty great though it hardly sticks in the mind after you finish the game only because its pacing (i.e. the narrative's) is pretty fast. But that is to say it can't be enjoyed despite that, it totally can. And, hey, if get stuck on a puzzle and can't progress then there's no better time to enjoy the great art. Character designs are kinda all over the place which means that I found most of the characters not cohesive or they stand out too much from the rest that they're almost jarring. For example, Foxy Romero feels so off compared to most of the other human characters although this does become less of an issue with the demons. Well, of course, because of the fact that they're demons I guess and can have all kinds of shapes and form. Voice acting is ok until you finish the game and then you realize that most of the characters were voiced by just one guy! Who knew? Thanks ending credits! There were bits of mismatch between the subtitles and the voice-over but it's pretty minor that it didn't bother me that much nor did it affect playing the game at all. Darkestville Castle is definitely a great game.. Beautifully made classic adventure. Amazing art design, The storyline is funny, bizarre with an absurd humor in a imaginative world.. I had a good time with this game, though I do have one main complaint. The art style is not consistent throughout the game, this is particularly notable in the Romero Brother characters. But there are other examples, like the main villain of the game. Darkestville Castle clocked in at about 5 hours for me and I got it on sale, so I would say I got my money's worth. I'd recommend buying the game, if you like Point n click games like Grim Fandango or Full Throttle. Though I wouldn't consider it an absolute must-have, of the genre.. This Game Is Excellent. For Any Monkey Island Adventurer, it has the humour, adventure and graphics. One Of The Best Adventure Games Ive played in a long time.. Fun game, i really enjoyed it. When I first found this game I immediately thought of Monkey Island 3. The drawing style is very similar, so is the music, and also the interaction menu ("look at" "talk to" "take"). Monkey Island 3 is my favourite Monkey Island, and one of the best point-and-click adventure games. Best one is of course The Longest Journey, but it's not the same category (whacky adventure games). TLJ is lot more serious. This game obviously didn't have the same budget as Monkey Island, but it's very good despite that. Highly recommended for anyone who loves old school point-and-click adventure games.
