About This Game

Don’t Forget Our Esports Dream is a narrative game about the South Korean esports scene. Play as Bolt, a professional StarCraft: Brood War player at a flashpoint in his career.

The next chapter

Meet a cast of characters including fellow esports pros, international competitors, and StarCraft fans as Bolt tries to find his place within the world of esports in South Korea. Behind the backdrop of esports team houses, PC Bangs, and overseas tournaments, new interactive StarCraft sequences and Glossary/Codex features expand upon the storytelling in this installment of the esports visual novel.

Play like a pro

Don't Forget Our Esports Dream guides players through interactive StarCraft scenes that highlight actual actions players would take when competing. The game also measures APM (actions per minute) similar to StarCraft, so players can see if they can stack up against the best. The experience scales for all skill levels, no previous experience in StarCraft required.

Expanded dialog system

Interact with the cast through the Star Sense dialog system, which allows you to present terms collected through the Codex. Presenting these terms unlocks player motivations and additional story around the world of esports.

Play like the pros with guidance on proper hotkeys to play at maximum efficiency, with the capability to measure your APM (actions per minute) like a competitive player.
  
• Star Sense dialog system - present terms about esports, strategy, and other characters through a redesigned dialog system to learn more about the world of esports.

This is a fun VN that is about 6 hours long (depending on how fast you read) and this is a prequel to their free one. It would have been nice if they had more Starcraft games played out in the tournaments because it seems a lot of the matches that happen in the VN do not get anything more a sentence stating that Person A won the match or Person B lost the match sentence. I will say that I also didn't really like the endings for winning or losing (losing seems to be canon).

Side note: Found out you have to left or right click certain hotkeys.. I want to say I was worried that this wouldn't live up to the original which was, in my eyes, one of the best visual novels I've ever read. But I really wasn't. I knew this game would be good, and they did nothing but prove me right.

Why can't I have an infinite amount of StarCraft related visual novels? Steam needs more StarCraft related visual novels.. If you have any interest in esports at all, give this story a shot. If you don't, then I recommend it even more. As someone who has only started watching professional esports after the boom, it really puts a lot of things in perspective. Everyone knows Broodwar, I always thought of it as the mothership that spawned every esport, so every esport has an interest in Broodwar because it is our history or our ancestor. This game gives perspective of those formative years in a way that leaves you breathless.. Full disclosure, my friend wrote this game, and I also kickstarted it.

It's very good, I have a lot of love for all of the characters and their interactions together but especially the camaraderie between Jett and Bolt displayed throughout the story. The way their relationship develops is something really wonderful, and the characters they meet along the way add a lot of interesting esports viewpoints that bounce off of each other.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the way it tries to offer interactivity in the Starcraft sequences, the lack of visual feedback makes controlling Starcraft units less engaging, but the Starcraft matches themselves are super thrilling anyway with the narration provided.

I really enjoyed my time with these characters and this story, I hope everyone gets to experience it. Definitely play SC2VN first to get some ground work, even though this is a prequel it really helps towards the end.. Loved it!
