Eventide: Slavic Fable is another solid entry into the light adventuring genre which Artifex Mundi have made their own.. Eventide: Slavic Fable is a charming point-and-click adventure that's a pleasant change from the current crop of twitchy games. It may tax your memory and observation skills at times, but the unobtrusive hint system is only ever a click away. No tutorial needed: I jumped straight in at 'advanced'. Along the way you get occasional pats on the back to reassure you you're on the right track. If forced to point out flaws, I'd say that the developers could do with a thorough spell-check of the content; there are several phrases and words used that aren't quite right (in some puzzles the odd choice of words adds further depth). Apart from that, the program seems bug-free (except perhaps near the castle drawbridge, where the crossbow seemed to misfire -- I was forced to back out via the main menu to get around that) . Well worth the entry fee.. That was definitely beyond what I was expecting. The story and slavic mythical creatures setting was interesting and there was a good mixture of difficulty and variety with the puzzles. It wasn't all just point and click, and it wasn't all super easy nor was it too hard, right in the goldilocks range in my opinion. The bonus stage really brought the story and characters around for me. They were nice, but by the bonus stage, I liked them more. If you're a fan of puzzle and hidden object games, and enjoy a dash of mythology, this game will be right up your alley.. I loved this game. The story is not very deep but it's still a sweet and enjoyable tale. I like the use of Slavic mythological creatures, fables and folklore. The art is beatiful. The puzzles are not extrmly hard but they still frequently make you think.. Typical HOG, well made, flowing game play, lovely artwork, non intrusive soundtrack, and easy to follow story. Worht paying full price, but always better if you can pick it up in the sale. Basically what you'd expect from Artifex Mundi, some other developers/publishers need to be taking notes. If I have one minor grumble, it's that some of the puzzles were a little too easy.. First time I have played a whole game by myself. It was fairly easy to navigate, but I had to ask for hints occassionally. Once completed it unloked a secondary game, which was very rewarding. If you like point and click puzzle games, it is a good choice. I was surprised how many times I had to go back to a scene already investigated , and solved, to find that it had another task to complete.. This is a great H.O. game with achievements. It is beautifully illustrated, and includes a creepy old man the bathtub. Weird and insane, I know, but it fits! It is one of my favorite H.O. games.. Are you a fan of Slavic fairy tales? No? Well, this game might just change your mind. Eventide: Slavic Fable is a game filled with magic and mystery as the hero, Mary, goes on an adventure to save her grandmother and the Slavic heritage park named Moorland that is filled with mythical creatures. This is a hidden item game with many enjoyable moments. The story starts with Mary, a botanist, getting a letter from her grandmother to rush to Moorland. Things go downhill from there as Mary gets into a car accident only to be saved, only to then witness her grandmother being taken away by a giant moth-like creature! The only way she can fix things is by finding a mystical flower and rejuvenating it so that its magic can be used. The creatures of Slavic legend who live in the park aid her quest to restore peace to Moorland and save the world. The game has many beautiful hidden object scenes to keep your attention as well as fun and sometimes challenging puzzles that you must complete to progress in the game. If youve played other games in this genre then you wont be surprised, however this is a nice title for players new to hidden object games or even children. The music is very fitting. Though I found several of the mythical creatures creepy, the artwork is gorgeous -the vibrant colors and attention to details made this game a pleasure to play. The game can be on the short side, even with playing the bonus chapter. However, the game also has achievements to go after and trading cards, adding a bit more to the game. This casual title is a fun and whimsical tale that is sure to please, I do recommend grabbing Eventide: Slavic Fable if you get the opportunity; beautiful art, smooth game-play, fully voiced and an overall great experience. My one problem is some of the puzzles or items are not as intuitive as they could be. Like Magnet that you need to extend the range of and a rope. Use the rope on the magnet? Nope. Use the rope on a door in the same room to open the latch. (You'll see, it makes sense.) The actual item to go with the magnet is a string on a stick. Other then that this was a nice change of atmosphere. Kind of reminded me a little of Enigmatis 2 with the abandoned theme park.
