Things I like: -art -music -goofiness -limited instructions -price Things I don't like: -microgames :/ Microgames don't do it for me, which is a shame because I like everything else about this game. I much prefer Game Soup's other game, Infernal Racket.. No don't get mad at me, I really like GS-youtube channel and appriciate how they have made "warioware" into PC, genre that feels only to be dominated by Nintendo themselves. The biggest problem I had when trying it was how there wasn't control tutorials before first time in certain sections. I just found myself frustrating all the time because I didn't know the controls which are important to know immeadilty in these types of games.. This is a fun little game. I like it. Thanks, Nick and Nick.. Fun game that relies almost entirely on the player's understanding of game tropes. Requires varying degrees of trial and error, but is a good test of your knowledge of videogames as a medium. Has amazing Final Boss music.. AMAZING GAME!! The beautiful art style and musical themes are accompanied by addictively fun gameplay. The dev is a super genuine and nice guy, and he deserves all the support he can get. 10/10 would play while listening to an angry man get hit by Vanguard.

I'm writing this as a bit of a look back or a post mortem on Echoes. Here's something I never thought I'd share publicly: Skyborn is significantly more popular than Echoes of Aetheria. Like. WAY more popular. And sometimes, that bothers me. I felt that I should have progressed as a developer and improved. But as I've gotten older, I've learned to take a step back whenever I feel the pangs of regret, shame, whatever. To be able to see what's really important. And what's important here? I had a LOT of fun making it! And a few people had a lot of fun playing it! That's what really matters. Did Echoes touch as many people as Skyborn? Not even close. But it still has the same value to me. If just ONE person is deeply moved, motivated, inspired, whisked away to a fantasy world of their own making, what have you. Then that's all that really matters. That's why I made games after all. Because something else inspired me, whisked ME away to another world, and motivated me to tell my own story, and share my own vision for an epic adventure. So again, thank you for playing. If even just a little bit. And if it inspired you in any way, I hope that has some positive effect on your life, as games have done for me. Getting lost in a project is one of the most rewarding things an indie developer can do. Life is short - do what MOVES you. Tell your story.. Skyborn 2??? Maybe.
