I don't know why, but I like this series. They're simple, predictable and repetitive, but strangely enjoyable. Kind of like a simple jigsaw puzzle - seeing where everything needs to go and putting things where they belong scratches some kind of OCD-like itch. Each game in the series manages to stretch out a little more playtime. #1 was 4hrs, #2 8hrs, and #3 12hrs to get all the acheivments (it took a while to reach 100 lockpick and find the hidden treasure). This one had a lot more grinding than the previous ones, which gets tedious, but I was still sorry to see it end so soon. As always, not recommended to serious gamers, very much a childrens game, but charming in it's own way.. I absolutely love these games I've been looking forward to this for months I think it's a really good point and click type game that is actually challenging and not made simple for little kids although I do feel like a little kid searching for frogs and butterflies on every new part of the map lol but it's a lot of fun and I highly recommend this and the two previous games.. If you liked the first two, then chances are high that you will like this one as well. I was surprised by the changes the devs did to the core mechanics, but they were for the better as letting a franchise become stale is easy when not enough effort is put forth.. I bought the third one! It's more of the same but huge improvements on the crafting and resource collecting. Best one yet.. So i bought it yesterday and guess what, i also finished it yesterday,as i dit with the previous two games. I must admit that , i don't know really why, but i adored this saga and i hope it will continue. But now i have to talk more about the game: Positive changes 1now it is possible not only to move in 4 different positions (which are the corners of the map we could say) by using the map(i mean the paper one), and so earning a lot of time, but one of the most important and appreciated changes is the possibility of buyng and selling stuff from and to each merchant still from the map itself; it is really really cool. 2Fire cam: you can now rest, cook ,create weapons and potions from your own fire camp just clicking an icon on the bottom right and i can assure you that is great, 'cause you can easily create 3000+ food and use it to rest and gain the same amount or more of hearts, just Great!! 3enemies, animals, fishes etc respawn in the map so you can 'farm' them and so earn some money by selling some stuff or gaining ingredients for your creations and it is usefull 'cause while you find where to go and proceed in the story, you will easily have a lot of experience(for skills) and some other stuff. Negative changes 1Killing monsters is now really really expensive in my opinion and even if you can craft potions and weapons(a little later from the beginning of the game) it can be really expensive, considering also the combat skill which will encrease by killing some monster (and it is not always guaranteed). And you will find yourself often buying or crafting a lot of potions and weapons too. 2The story, in my opinions is much less catching than the previous ones, like i wasn't intersted in the main story at all and i was a bit sad for this 'cause the others one were more immersive and diversificated( i felt more like a real hero while here i also felt a bit op). Suggestions: 1one thing i would have addes from the beginning is the possibility to select the amount of stuff you want to buy or sell 'cause sometimes can be boring having to buy a lot of things and you have to single click every time. And also when you want to cook food you have to click like 30 times while you could select 30 and click once. 2the greater the difficulty the greater the reward: i liked the skills and having them to encrease, but it's not right that a potion which needs 40 or 60 or 80 at potion skill, gives me the same improvement as the single one, and so for weapons which were just annoying to craft.. Game is very grindy compared to the previous 2 entries. I feel like the devs made a huge mistake with the random spawning stuff instead of the carefully crafted progression from the last 2 games. You will spend a lot of time just going through screens picking up random spawningto make more money/level skills. The camping skills are awful too, feels super tedious and almost made me give up towards the end cause every fight requires crafting 4-8 items from the camping menu, just ing awful design. Don't play this as your first game, play the other 2. This is a weak entry into the series and hopefully the devs learn from this mistake and make the next game less grindy.. It has the same game interface and styles as former ones. But you can play a lot of quests. I like the new story and musics. Now I have finished the game. I also got all achievements. It's a bit harder than I and II, but still interesting.. Yeah I know it has been said here a lot already, but that sequel is the worse of the trilogy. Content is way too spread over grindy sections that are quite boring to play.. With my personal play style, I got one playthrough of the game finished in 14 hours. I loved the first two in this series, so had to give this one a go. I would recommend at least one playthrough of the game if you like to 'gather' and 'craft' things. The beginning of the game is tough, as you need health, which requires food, but getting food requires health. There are things you need to fight to move forward, which require combat level, health, healing pots, etc. So I spent quite a bit of time finding a balance of moving back and forth through screens filling up my inventory to get those things stocked up, take on a chunk of the battlesto level up to kill x thing, and repeat. As you do this, you proceed into the game and progress the story. The storyline was a bit cheesey to me, not as good as the first two. One thing I really liked in this game as well as the first two is the 'hidden items' like eggs and mushrooms and crates to be found. The crafting your own food, potions and weapons was nice too. It meant if you keep harvesting things, you never truly run out of x item you need for something. About halfway through, I figured out I didn't have to walk back to town, the map let you buy from any store, at any time, even in a cave, or you could teleport to the villages using the map to make it easier to move in the world. The downside to this game is the heavy clicking, or a combination of clicking, using spacebar and waiting for animations to finish, like when you are cooking for example. That did affect the joy of playing. Every time you do anything it seems you have the extra clicks to get items, or because you gained a level, or broke the equipment. They could have made those vanish in a few seconds instead of requiring clicks for much smoother gameplay. That being said, once you 'finish' the game, it isn't over, some of the villages have new requests for you to fill. Of course, with my hoarding instinct, I sold off a lot of my hoard to buy silver to max smithing, and now have to explore to find the items they want again.. I had a great time playing this game, and I'm very happy to recommend it. The negative reviews almost turned me off, but I enjoyed the first two games so much that I decided to give it a try. Overall, it's a nice and relaxing vacation from reality. So, it is different from the first two games, in that almost everything respawns. Also, it is not always completely clear what you should do next (I did not see an in-game hint system), but it's never difficult to figure it out. It's still a very easy game. It has that Metroidvania-ish thing, as in the first two games, where you unlock abilities throughout and can go back to previously visited areas to find new stuff. You do need to gather a lot and craft a lot; that's pretty much the game. Some grinding is also necessary. But it is never unpleasant, and I wasn't bored. I got all the achievements in a little less than 10 hours (I was idle for a bit of my official count here), but that's a good length for a game, imo. If you like games that involve completing an easy set of tasks, go for it. Unimportant sidenote: Every time the visions happened, the first few notes of that music track reminded me of "Lay All Your Love on Me."
