Quite a while ago, I envisioned uploading a torrent at a late, lamented site which has since disappeared for Macross's 25th Anniversary that would contain a relatively complete Macross saga, but another member named Rapierguy beat me to it in May or June. Instead, on October 3, I uploaded a pretty complete albeit not great sound quality Song Collection. Still, looking at Rapierguy's collection, I felt that it was a little lacking... Although the site's gone, the torrent lives on, and is available at one of the iMacross servers. So recently, thoughts of the Ultimate Macross Torrent reasserted themselves. The idea would be to get everything together and don't worry, I'm not begging for anything... I have most of it already and upload the torrent on February 7, 2009 natch. So, my idea for the torrent: all the animes, plus drama albums with translations , scanlated comics, specials like Macross: A Future Chronicle, Macross' Fastest Liftoff! I'm going back to Tokyo this summer I hope for a long, long time , and I hope to track down the last things I need... I'll also need to translate a number of things myself, like Mylene Beat, Macross Classic, Macross Generation, and the Macross 7 Trash album. My Japanese is just passable, but I have a lot of friends who could help me through the rough patches. Which brings me to my question: does this sound like too much one collection? Should I just stick to the animation? Or should I track down and add in for example the stories from My Fair Minmay and White Reminiscences? BOTH versions of DYRL I'm leaning towards including only the theatrical version... Should I cut out Macross II entirely? What do you think? How much is too much? If you had to put together your perfect Macross collection, what would you leave out? If you have to cut anything the only thing I would cut is the Macross 2 and 7 animation as well as DYRL as they are very widely available. But things like the music collection any book or print material and especially Mylene beat should stay in as alot of people are looking for Mylene Beat like boinger. Edited February 27, 2008 by Sorata Well... I guess that's a better way to phrase my question: how much of the hard-to-find material is actually WORTH finding? And I agree that in a lot of ways, torrents are more convenient, but I think we're in the minority. Edited February 27, 2008 by Gubaba Well... And I agree that in a lot of ways, torrents are more convenient, but I think we're in the minority. True I agree fully with everything you said. I wouldnt cut anything unless I had too. Heck I have an external 1 tetrabyte harddrive connected to my PC that I changed the drive name to KOS-MOS kinda fits as it has a blue LED light and it is used just to store and sort my Macross materials so 30Gb wont hurt a bit especially when I kept three versions of Macross Frontier ep 1 for a clean raw file and the different subs groups I like. And yeah I am not about to buy a rapidshare premium anytime soon especially when I have to manually copy and paste each link of say 200 I want in a browser to download a file. As for hard to find material I kinda agree unless it contains lineart or a new story perspective that is cannon then they mostly arent worth it i would say best thing to do is go by your gut instinct and add what intrest you at first and then add other files if demand and time warrants. After all if it doesnt make you happy to do it then it isnt worth it. Edited February 27, 2008 by Sorata I would go for a Macross bittorrent collection that would also include translations of some of the macross books, like the Angel Valkyrie project manual or the Macross Hobby Handbook, as well as the harder to find macross stuff. So, take a look around first to see what's available for bittorrent. It's supposed to be a fun project, but it still sounds like a lot of time and effort. Mark Yeah, it does... The ideal would be a torrent that a complete newbie could download and effortlessly have a clear understanding of how everything fits together, but that a big time Macross fan could also snatch a few files from to plump out his or her collection. BTW, I have a New Type article from '92 that talks about Mac 2, if you are interested. It's partly selfish as well, as I'd love to find out what is being reported on in it... I had this problem with a Gatchaman torrent recently... Rapierguy's 27GB absolutely DEMOLISHED my good ratio at Demonoid... BTW, I have a New Type article from '92 that talks about Mac 2, if you are interested. It's partly selfish as well, as I'd love to find out what is being reported on in it... It's kind of outside the scope of my collection I'm trying to focus on the story, not articles about the story , and Newtype can be kind of difficult though... But if you have some scans of it that are large enough to read, I'll give it the old college try. BTW, I have a New Type article from '92 that talks about Mac 2, if you are interested. Well as a bit torrent file he wont have to break it into smaller chunks as out of the whole 30 GB a bittorrent list each file in it and you simply check a box for which ones you want to download. So I could download 1 GB out of the 30 if that is all I want. You right though the initial upload would take a while though. But to help with the seeding I run bit torrent almost 24-7 so I would be willing to help seed anyfile anyone would need if he gets it up and running. Heck some of the files I seed have been listed for a couple years and no one ever leeched em yet I should probably remove those by now Okay's here's my set-up so far... I might put the game movies in here as well. I won't include the comic unless it too is finished by then, which I doubt. I work slowly usually, but I'll be in Japan, so I'll have a lot of help nearby to answer thorny linguistic questions and such, so it's a possibility. Is it too much? What do you think? Edited March 4, 2008 by Gubaba cant wait to get some of those i. Here's an easier solution: It's in four Rapidshare files, about three-quarters of of the way down the page. Or better yet, the new Macross Flash Back 2012? If someone uploads it as an AVI file, I'll put it in. Since everything's been remastered recently, I'd love to include remastered everything here... Someone started putting the Central Anime subs on the remastered Mac7, but it's H264 MKV, which I can't play on my computer... Things may change this year, though, so we'll see... Do you know someone actually has the entire remastered Macross 7 set out there. Im not talking compressed video files, the real deal. Its over 100 gigs. Anywho, the real gem would be the new DYRL release. Macross, Plus, they're available here, already. The DYRL remaster release is available not in ISO format via isohunt... It takes quite a while to download the entire macross 7 and they are all Dual Layer discs. If anyone knows how to get the english subs on them please PM me. BTW macross 7 looks marvalous. To me the gem is the remaster of macross plus. Then we could add the english dub and subs. Too bad the only place I can find it is on sites that require a membership and payment to Download. Did them one or two discs at a time to save space. Almost all of the 16 discs were 6-7gb. Now I have to just figure out how to add the subs. Okay's here's my set-up so far... I think I'm going to start monthly updates on this project, just to keep myself focussed, and to keep anyone here who's interested in getting rare or previously untranslated Macross material apprised of where I am in the project. Since my last post here, I've gathered quite a bit of stuff that I didn't have before... Unfortunately, my one Japanese friend who likes Macross enough to help me has been busy drawing a manga recently, but she promised that she'll help me as soon as she's free. Dreaming Prelude - My Fair Minmay 2. Macross Zero Zero Bonus clip with Episode Four of Mac Zero. I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere, but there's a torrent around on boxtorrents with ~10 gigs of lossless Macross albums one of which is Mari Ijiima sings Lynn Minmay, but no gift 25 ;; However, they're all in godawful. Or just convert them. I'm kind of anal about proper imports into iTunes with names and credits. If you're on an older Mac as long as you have 10. And yeah, the Demonoid collection whets the appitite, doesn't it? Don't worry about the space, put everything you have on it, with the best quality possible. But just make sure you don't put it all in one. Making into a single RAR file would really evil... But I'm sure it will turn up on the Internets well before my torrent is ready... All that is missing are her actual feelings, which instead are supplied by Myung Fang Lone. The DYRL remaster glad is available not in ISO format via isohunt.
