Others have described exactly what you do in the game, so I won't go into that. What I will say is I enjoyed this game immensely and will probably return to it from time to time. The atmosphere is set well, there's a lot of different elements and a few minigames that all gel well together. Even though the countdown timer should never have been a concern to me, its presence did make everything feel more urgent (which is something that really annoys me in most games, but didn't in this one). The one negative is the continuous pop-ups of each new piece of information (Ted Whatshisface weighs 122 pounds!) gets a little annoying towards the end, particularly since with four perps and 20-ish suspects, you don't (and can't) really care about each piece of information but what it all tells you when combined on the case info page. There really should be an option to turn that off. Actually, I tell a lie. There is a second negative, if you're playing the minigame where you're chasing a suspect and you manage to clear all the tiles before the last one appears, it glitches and you can't catch the suspect. Solution is, when you get down to the last two tiles to wait for them both to appear at the bottom of the screen before clearing them. I bought it on sale, and while I would pay for it at full price, this game probably isn't for everyone. I'd recommend waiting for a sale.. The idea sounds silly, but the game is surprisingly engaging. Combines some of the simple suck you in power of solitaire/mahjonng, but with a bit of a carmen sandiego twist, that combined with the atmospheric details such as the poilce scanner, keep me interested. I'm not someone who cares much for story in games, so the simple modular way of telling a "story" keeps the text light, but still makes you feel like some sort of weird detective. My only complaint is that I have NO idea what average height, weight, light build, etc means.. I like mahjongg, then there was some pointless other stuff.. It's Mahjongg. the same one you can play with any windows install. only this one has an extra layer of gamification and progression layered on. Graphical fidelity is pretty lacking in addition. Unless you're really into the theme or need a game of "Guess Who?" layered over your mahjongg, it's pretty safe to say you're fine skipping over this title.. Absolutely excellent semi-casual game, gives a very good investigation feel and has decent variety. Each case contains: *) Multiple locations to check out, each of which corresponds to a separate mahjong solitaire puzzle. Solve slightly-easier mahjong to get clues. Generally, more puzzles are available than you'll need, and you can try to solve the case at any point. *) Use clues to identify suspects as perpetrators -- there's different kinds. You can discover new suspects or find alibis that rule out old ones, you might learn facts about the suspects, or the perpetrator, and perpetrator facts are solid enough but vague enough that you actually have to think about it. What is "average height"? Obviously the 4'11" girl can go, but what about the 5'9" one? It strikes a delicate balance. *) Interrogate suspects for more clues -- which is a Memory minigame with yet more tiles. Turn over tiles two at a time, trying to find matches. The better you do, the more facts you get about that suspect -- or, they might even confess under pressure. *) You have a phone, which occasionally gets anonymous tips or clues from the lab -- which tends to go off when you're busy doing something else, making it mildly (but not terribly) more difficult to concentrate on the puzzles. *) Smooth and easy to use interface makes the logic puzzle segment a breeze to interact with, while the multiple suspects and the nature of the clues ("at least one suspect has bloodtype AB+" : if there's two suspects, you can't rule out other bloodtypes, but when one suspect has several suspicious traits.) keep things novel and interesting. It fits a lot of genres I like together into one thing. Casual puzzles, tacked together with just enough narrative to make each one have meaning and context, and enough variety and inter-relatedness to keep it interesting. A+! My only critique is that it could possibly use more suspect portraits, or be more careful about which one gets assigned where (double-chin lady probably shouldn't be described as having a light build, for example), but that's minor.. Mahjongg Investigations: Under Suspicion is a game that I recommend because: - is a method to banish boredom - is a strategy & puzzle game - is a playable game Enjoy!. Love this game. MY granddaughter loves to play too. I like how you are given vairous way to find information.by using a tetris style gameplay, also by matching, and then of course mahjongg. If you like Mahjongg and problem solving. And don't want a game requires you to shoot anything, or build anything. This is your game..
