Inept Max poses as a safe cracker so the Chief orders all federal bank vaults left open.
When CONTROL learns that KAOS plans to grab safe-cracker Jimmy Ballentine (Tim Herbert) the minute he's released from prison for a top secret job, they plant the story Ballatine's a burn victim and plant Max in his place, his head wrapped like a mummy. Trouble is, 86 knows nothing about cracking safes, despite Ballentine trying to train him. So the Chief takes a chance and orders ALL safes in the Washington area to be left open that night! Okay episode features Howard Morton as Dobring (he would later go on to play Grampa Munster in the ill-fated revival of the series) and Vic Tayback as his henchman Popov. They both do okay as the KAOS bad guys, but producer Arne Rosen's script is not as sharp as most of the high quality shows from season one and two. Agent 13 has some funny stuff in the barber shop scene, but most of that scene is a bit flat otherwise, even with Barbara Feldon as a bad manicurist (or as Max tells 99: "I thought I'd be facing danger on this mission, but not from you!")
