Aussie adventurer Steve Irwin - a.k.a. "The Crocodile Hunter" is out to save a gorgeous croc and relocate him. What The Steve doesn't know is that the Crocodile has innocently swallowed a top secret U.S. satellite beacon, and some CIA agents sent to retrieve it. Steve mistakes the CIA agents for poachers and sets out to stop them from capturing the Crocodile.
Aussie adventurer Steve Irwin aka The Crocodile Hunter has avoided the death-roll and nabbed another feisty croc, hoping to save it from poachers. What Steve doesn't know is that the crocodile has innocently swallowed a top secret US satellite beacon, and the poachers are actually American special agents sent to retrieve it. Crikey! In the Outback and through the bush with his wife Terri's ever-present commentary ringing out over the countryside ("That was a close one, Steve!"), the Crocodile Hunter is out to save the gorgeous croc and relocate him. It won't be easy, but if he can handle bird-eating spiders and venomous snakes without getting bitten, gun-wielding agents shouldn't be too much of a problem.
This is the most deeply, funny film I have seen all year. Whoever came up with this idea is, in my opinion, a genius.

It could have been awful. But the film-makers have struck upon this unique formula where the feeble back-plot (straight out of a cheap 80's TV movie purposefully serves to enhance Steve's personality and appeal, and the two mingle into a delightfully campy experience.

I call this a surprisingly refreshing, possibly touching on genre-defining, classic that I will be watching many more times. Being a longtime fan of Steve, I was very interested in seeing his first venture onto the big screen. He performed in his usual inimitable style, combining entertainment, education, courage and an extraordinary ability to understand the critters he deals with.

In the background of this, though, there was some vague, Class B low budget thriller about a spy satellite and secret agents trying to recover its "black box". The script and acting for the spy thriller was underwhelming, at best.

So, for Steve & Terri, I'd give the movie a 9/10. For the spy thriller part of the movie, it ranks a weak 3/10. Though Walt Disney's Peter Pan once implored us never to smile at a crocodile, the Irwins' own home movie is worth a couple of chuckles. Shivers, too.
