Pretty good game overall. Plus - Sick environment and race level design. - Different mods of races. - Nice game design in terms of upgrade, jet stat balance. - Good change to someone that likes car racing games. Minus - Environments are limited to few maps, it gets boring real quick (1-2 hours) - Poor UI design - Not all stunts are forced to use, you can beat the game with only Rockstar move. - Contact with other jets is not enjoyable/exciting enough.. If you are a speed racing junkie, then this is the game for ya, it's just plain old school fun and action.. This game is a fun arcade racing game that will challenge you even after you've maxed out your bike. The game is a bit grindy and some losses feel a bit cheap, but I had a lot of fun with it. If you played Riptide GP 2 (this game's prequel) you'll find that it's largely more of the same with better graphics and an actual story, and that's not a bad thing at all. The game runs very well on my relatively old (2014) laptop and works wonderfully with a controller. I don't think tricks would work as well with a keyboard though, so if you don't have a controller this game might be a bit harder than it should be, especially the stunt mode. The track selection is fairly good, the shortcuts aren't always obvious and there are plenty of unlockables to keep you busy. However, the game does repeat events many times to pad its length and it's a bit unnecessary, especially considering that you seem to get the best bike (IMO) somewhere in the middle of the campaign. In terms of modes, there's a career, a single race mode, a global challenge that amounts to time trials with a leaderboard, splitscreen and online multiplayer. Unfortunately, the online portion of the game is dead, and on splitscreen you can only chose from preselected track lists, so racing with other people is a bit limited. That said, the single player mode is worth the price of admission, so I won't hold the multiplayer against the game. All in all I think I got my money's worth and II recommend this game to any arcade racing fan.. This is the sequel to Riptide GP2. I still feel that even though it's slightly better in every way, the original still holds its own. It looks good, plenty to unlock, controls well, sounds good and when you get into the groove of the game, you'll find yourself continually pushing your hydrojets to the extremes to get the speed, distance and height required for some insane tricks. The difficulty curve is pretty spot on and the whole experience is pretty satisfying. Sometimes it's on sale for $3 and it's worth every penny - even at full price.. Very fun, pretty casual racing game.. At first launch, it seems a bit like a buggy port from a console or phone/tablet. The tutorial starts by saying that you need to chase another racer, and that it will auto accelerate. Cue me sitting there waiting for it to start moving. Turns out, auto accelerate is disabled by default. Cue me trying to press W to get the jetski to move. No effect. Space. No effect. Up arrow. *Starts moving*. Groan - bad default keyboard map. Changing the keys is a harrowing experience too - reminds me of some dodgy old games circa 1995. And you can't use the mouse to move the viewport or boost either - strictly a keyboard affair and the automatic camera mode. Plus, until you restart the race, it gives the wrong hints for what keys to press. It even suggested that I "tilt my device" to turn at one point - er, pretty sure there is no accelerometer in any part of my computer. I've played the previous Riptide games, so I figure I can try boosting and doing tricks in the tutorial - no go. Turns out they don't become active until you start playing for real, at which point you kinda get infotips showing you how to use them anyway. So, my advice is just skip the tutorial completely. Whether or not you have played the previous games, you are not missing anything except a bit of story. Apart from that, graphics are pretty gorgeous, race tracks have hints about turns and stunt areas, at least to start with (I haven't seen an option to turn them off for a more authentic experience - I do know how to look at the mini-map, you know!). Will play some more and see how it goes.. good racing game. A great improvement from riptide gp 2 A vectot unit game with a story is a nice change.It has a need for speed fell to Riptide GP: Renegade.
