Nate is shocked to learn he has powers, but then accidentally lands himself and Ray in Feudal Japan.
Vixen goes on board the ship to find the one who killed Rex but is caught. Nate develops abilities as a result of the serum Ray gave him. Ray puts on his suit to test him out and something happens and Ray and Nate fall off the ship and land in Japan during the time of a Shogun's tyrannical reign. Nate is found by a girl who helps him. And Ray is caught by the Shogun's men who take him to the Shogun who takes the suit. Sara convinces Vixen that none of them killed Rex and she agrees to help them. So they along with Rory go looking for Nate and Ray. The Shogun goes to the girl and decrees that she should marry him but Nate knowing who he is, decides to stand up for her and is challenged. And he wears Nate's suit. Sara and the others save Ray and they join Nate, who wants to take on the Shogun. Ray tries to teach him how to deal with the suit. On the ship Stein and Jax are overseeing the repairs, when they discover another compartment that they were not aware of .
Legends of Tomorrow's third episode created a good balance between a character arc and a fun historical showdown between the legends and the shogun.

The live action debut of Citizen Steel was a good character piece for Nate Haywood, developing his personality and his warmth. I say warmth because I'm holding out on the hope that the writers explore the comic story where Nate literally becomes living steel and loses his ability to feel touch, which could then plausibly be extended into a Dr Manhattan-style/emotional vacancy arc, which I think would be really great. Regardless, his heroism in trying to save the village was nice to see.

However for me, the most enjoyable aspect of tonight's episode was Brandon Routh's performance. I've always liked the actor but I've felt that he's been very underused, especially for someone with his acting calibre. Ray's arc this episode mixed a good amount of action sequences with serious scenes, and his decision to sacrifice the suit was a nice show of his character's selflessness. Sometimes with all the blind drama that superhero shows try to pull off, they miss out on creating the heroic aspect of the superhero, but this episode was a nice reminder of that idealism which pulled us all into the concept to begin with.

Sara's transition to team leader was a good call on behalf of the writers, and I find that I'm enjoying her strategic and no nonsense take on the position to be far more enjoyable that Rip as captain of the waverider. Speaking of the wave rider though, I'm still hoping that the art and vfx department (as well as the writers) can improve upon the current designs and approaches towards the time travel elements because the "green mystical time travel-y vortex" isn't really selling it for me.

-- Sci-fi aspects (CGI and writing approaches) are still a little iffy

8.4/10 I can't imagine you're not having fun with this season of Legends. I've enjoyed the new additions to the cast, as well as the show taking a much lighter approach and not taking itself too seriously. If it's trying to be The Fast and Furious of superhero shows, then it is succeeding.

Much like other episodes, this week's plot revolved around a mistake made by or on the Waverider (hasn't that happened a ton?) and it took us to 17th century Japan where a shogun had the means to wife a women who didn't want any part of it. Of course, that women's family just happened to be the Yamashiro family, the same family that the future Katanna would be a descendant of. It's a typical Legends thing to do, but a fun twist nonetheless.

The main arc being the birth of Citizen Steel, Dr. Heywood's now alter ego, at the same time that Ray Palmer was forced to deal with being a hero without his ATOM suit. I enjoyed both angles this week. Sure, Steel doesn't have the best CGI look, but it's enough for CW, and it's about time Ray gets a story line that doesn't involve him crushing over a woman. I honestly felt more chemistry between Rory and Vixen than I did for her and Ray last week.

Speaking of Vixen, it seems she has officially joined the squad as she is determined to find Rex's killer from last week. I honestly didn't even think she would suspect the Legends when she heard "time traveler" as Rex's last words, but it was pretty fun watching her pick all the legends apart. No disrespect to Megalyn Echikunwoke, but I'm finding Maisie Richardson-Sellers' portrayal of Vixen to be much more compelling.

I think Legends botched The Magnificent Seven tribute last year, and I felt like this episode served as a much more fitting homage as the team protected a family from a bunch of Samurai. Is there anything better in the Arrowverse than watching Sara kick the crap out of a bunch of ninja's as Caity Lotz does all her own stunts? Tonight wasn't perfect, but it sure as hell entertained me, and that's all I'm asking for.
