it's fun, it's replayable, it has NG+ and NG++ and more, the jokes are fun, the story is great, the gameplay is solid, the classes are great, and all of them have their own thing they can do to make missions easier.
. I like this game. However, I don't like the random crashes half the time when you return to base. From what I can gather this has been an issue for several years and has yet to be fixed.

If the Devs ever fix this bug, I'll change my review.

. Do you like First Person, Turn Based dungeon crawling?
Do you wish you could have that in a scoundrel's spaceport setting?
Do you like randomly generated loot and levels?

If all those sound like your idea of a good time, this is a pretty easy game to recommend. It's basically an old school "Eye of the Beholder" type crawler with a sci-fi space setting. There's a static set of story missions to follow (with multiple paths), but the meat of the game for roguelike fans will be the side missions, which come as randomly generated assignments from the different game factions, each one potentially netting you favor with one group (and disfavor with one or more others.)

There's a secondary minigame, which lets you "jack in" to particular computer terminals on each mission (or you can choose to acquire missions that are only this alternative battle system.) Once jacked in, you'll have to use your acquired programs to fight off system defenses as you travel through various nodes. Some nodes will allow you to unlock doors in your path, others to lower the threat level in an area, or disable security features, scan for enemy locations, or even locate your objective on the map. You can also hit up data nodes to acquire more programs and buffs, to take on tougher challenges, and on and on it goes.

I paid a lot of attention to this minigame my first time through and I eventually came to regret it - it is nowhere near as interesting as the main battle system, and as long as you can unlock doors and disable security manually, it serves little purpose and provides no experience, merely interrupting the otherwise enjoyable parts of the game. On New Game+, I have ignored the system almost entirely and the flow of the game is much more enjoyable this way.

The main part is good though. The loot, the classes, their skills, and the main story writing are all enjoyable and worth the price of admission. I'm about to wrap up a second play through, and may even go for a third. Not a lot of games get that kind of attention these days.. So here I am, stuck in a mineshaft with an evangelist that won't stop trying to read us weird vogon poetry, a nerd that won't shut up about comic books when he's not too busy posting anime reviews on reddit, and a total nutcase who talks to space tentacles. If these idiots weren't really good at killing things, I'd probably fire the lot of 'em.

Speaking of which, this dork just somehow managed to screw up pushing Ctrl+Alt+Delete on a terminal (how??) and now there are security bots. Because of course there are. *sigh*. Ok, I've played this 3x. Partly to cover the 3 main storylines, partly to try new difficulty levels, and partly for the various Achievements if I'm brutally honest. Overall, I quite recommend it. More specifically, here's what I liked, what I didn't like, and what I thought was somewhere in-between.

Good:
Refreshing to have a sci-fi turn-based RPG!
Lot of fun tactics to be had in fights, w\/ 8 classes (I alternated missions between 2 groups of 4 PCs).
Lot of fun to be had based on which factions & organizations you built Rep with (and curried favors with).
Meaningful rewards for NG+ (and to a lesser extent, NG++).
Music and art direction were good.
The 3 main storylines were different enough to warrant different games.
Fantastic sense of humor. Pay attention to the throwaway quips the writers use for describing items. Try not to laugh when you find your 1st piece of "clikbatercite" in a mining mission!

Bad:
Poor editing. For a game that I believe first came out in 2015, there are way too many typos for my preference.
The main story missions do a good job of enemies, but you will get tired of the same enemy types on random side missions, which really make up the bulk of the game.
There was a completely dropped plot point involving (no spoilers) a group tied to the main storyline. Like, left on the cutting room floor dropped.
The RNG that distributed random loot utterly failed to cough up all the components needed to produce accessories for 3 of the 8 classes, while endlessly coughing up the same components for accessories I had for the other 5 classes (each class needs 4 items for a special accessory). This is after 3 games and well over 300 hours of gameplay!
There's a dossier-related Achievement that, as far as I can tell, is impossible to get (where you get the 10th and last dossier entry). I wasted a lot of time on unnecessary missions trying to get a 2nd (of 5) dossiers for this group. It never happened. (EDIT: in global achievements, Spy Master has 0% completion.)

In-between:
The game really could benefit from a better codex. Too many terms were used that were never fully explained (e.g., what the hell does "Maneuver" do for you when equipping armor?!).
I would have greatly appreciated the ability, common in many RPGs, for a PC to be able to swap out 1 weapon for another, as this would have helped greatly in tactical fights vs. certain enemy types. Hopefully there's a sequel and that gets built into the game.
A few buggy items (e.g., Esuna bomb is supposed to clear debuffs from your allies, but targets enemies).
Some organizations were easy to build up Favors with; some were ridiculously hard. On top of that, some top-end rewards were worthless and some were gold. There should have been better balance there.. Ok, I've played this 3x. Partly to cover the 3 main storylines, partly to try new difficulty levels, and partly for the various Achievements if I'm brutally honest. Overall, I quite recommend it. I ended up fighting to level 30, getting to the final mission, gaining my FIRST TWO legendary guns, only to experience an unresolveable game breaking freeze bug in the final battle, with no way to either win the battle or even abort mission. And message board searches state the devs could never figure it out. So I get to load my save and stare at my two new sweet guns without ever being able to upgrade them or even see what they do, let alone finish the game and progress further in harder difficulties. I'd rather it be a junk game that I know I should quit early than it to get my hopes up and make it so far only to break.. I like this game.
