It's pretty good, and the music is alright, the price point is pretty good too.. Suzy Cube is a super fun and cute 3D Platformer! It has super nice and tight platforming, and very responsive controls. For the selection of Power Up's it's rather dim, there isn't much varity in what they do and from what I've played so far there is only 4 Power Up's. Level design is really nice, nothing feels repeated and it always urges me to continue to the next level. Boss Fights however feels recycled and repeated with only one or two things changing here or there, which is rather disappointing. It's always a Dragon (different color every world), and some sort of gimmick for the boss that is different from the previous times, once again nothing special there.. Suzy Cube is a game that wears its inspiration on its sleeve, and that isn't a bad thing. Suzy Cube is heavily inspired by Super Mario 3D Land, and would not be surprised if the game was originally conceived as a hack for that game. The controls are smooth and precise (I played with an XBox 360 controller), so if you take a hit or lose a life it is the fault of the player, not the controls or the level design. The level design in Suzy Cube is top notch. Just like Super Mario 3D Land, each stage has three collectibles that can be found in secret locations, mini-challenges, or solving puzzles, and check points a generously placed so you never loss too much progress if you lose a life, and a game over only results in you getting booted out of the stage you were playing. The presentation is simplistic, but charming. I absolutely adore the use of flat colours when they are used well, and Suzy Cube uses them fairly well while also throwing in enough detail to make things not just look like floating untextured cubes in nebulous voids. And the simplicity of the presentation means that Suzy Cube can be ran on basically any PC released within the past few years. The music is the only major weak point of the game since besides the stage victory jingle none of it is really memorable. So overall, Suzy Cube is a fun little 3D Platformer that knows what is is and embraces it. Fun level design, tight controls, and an overall pleasant presentation all for an affordable price makes Suzy Cube an easy recommendation for lovers of the genre.. With completeing the main worlds today, I'll have to say that I very much enjoyed the game. It's simply and cute and a lot of fun. There's definitely challenge put in place to make the game progress as you do. While the controls can be a pain and the scrolling levels can sometimes really be picky about timing, there isn't much in the way of making this game a great platformer. Level design doesn't change much throughout the game and that might be the only sad part of the game as I'd love to see Suzy get in to different worlds. But again, nothing that kills the game. One of my favortie levels honestly is the final 'grassy' level in world 5. The star collection is probably my favorite aspect of the game. There are some very clever ways they hide the stars that really make you think. I'm very much looking forward to finishing the game off with the special worlds.. I stumbled on this game while looking for something on sale I could play with my 3 year old. It's a great little 3D platformer with good controls, a decent uncontrollable camera, and just enough challenge for a gamer parent to not get bored. My overall impression is Mario 64 clone, but I've honestly never played Mario 64 so this is just based on watching other people play, bright colors, simple geometry, and collecting things. The simple graphics means there's not much for the 3 year old to get scared by, though he did run to his room during one of the voxel-dragon boss fights. The uncontrollable camera might be annoying to some, but Suzy Cube did a reasonable job of knowing where to point the camera in the level. The camera did glitch out once or twice when the trigger for going around a corner misfired, but the only time I died due to the camera was an auto-scroller level that forced a few blind moves. The controls are simple and responsive on an XBox controller, I didn't try keyboard/mouse. We've completed all 5 worlds in around 7 hours with a 3-year-old bouncing around the room telling me which things to pick up and which path to take, so it's a pretty quick play. We didn't 100% all levels yet, and there are bonus level that only open once you 100% all levels in a world, so we've probably got another couple hours of play left in it. It also has a built-in level timer and global leaderboards if you want to speed-run levels. I honestly don't think I'd enjoy this half as much if the 3 year old wasn't "helping" me and getting so excited at the most mundane things. I mean, to him, the final boss making fire catch fire is the most amazing thing ever, to me it's just boss attack 1 overlapping boss attack 2. I probably would have still gotten a couple bucks enjoyment out of it without the help. So, with 3 year old helping, worth full price, without, possibly worth full price but definitely worth it on sale if you like retro-ish 3d platformers and short games.. Bought it just because the price was nice and the designs seemed super cute.. Lovely little puzzle platformer reminiscent of Super Mario 3D World! $5.02 USD at time of purchase
