Windows 10 on higher resolution (3440x1440):

* I can't play the game in a higher resolution than 1080p.
* The game glitches if I click outside of the window. Going back in has it stuck.
* Initial boot (controller vs keyboard choice) glitched and required me to restart.

a not too difficult game with enough secrets to keep you going but not too many to be intimidating.
I personally liked the story, although the primary motivation for me was to find every secret and get every upgrade.. Watched this one in the sidebar at Chucklefish for a while, and it delivered. If it looks like your type of game, art style and everything, check it out.. Treasure Adventure Game was so well made and creative, and I'd been following this game's creation for 5 years.
It was totally worth the wait.
The new art is so well done, the remastered soundtrack is awesome, and some of the remade islands are really cool.
10/10, buy the game+soundtrack bundle- it'll only cost you two extra bucks.. This is the type of platformer where you explore locations, gain new abilities, find secrets and unravel the big picture while doing that. Also, it's spectacularily good.

So yeah - a metroidvania. I played through the original Treasure Adventure Game years ago and loved it. What began as a "fun little indie pixel art game" turned into a pretty damned long adventure, with atmosphere and challenge in spades. Plot, too.

The basic setting: you're a young lad who lives on an island. You're sucked into a treasure hunting adventure, as the title implies, which encompasses the whole world. Won't say anything else about the story or specifics about gameplay, other than that while there is combat, the game is fairly exploration and puzzle oriented. Also, if the only original is anything to go by, the difficulty level ramps up quite considerably during the game.

At the time of writing I've only played this new incarnation 7 hours or so, but so far it's very nice. The updated graphics, animation and music are very well done, as are the controls. I'm not sure if any of the gameplay stuff I've encountered so far is technically new, although I understand there IS a lot(?) of new content in Treasure Adventure World, in addition to improved old stuff.

If this new incarnation maintains its high quality to the end, it'll be one of the great games of its genre. While the production values might lose to big boys like Ori and the Blind Forest, Symphony of the Night, Super Metroid etc., the gameplay and atmosphere do not. There are some bonus flavours of Cave Story and Spelunky, for extra warmth.

I highly recommend this hidden gem. If you do happen to like it, you're in luck, as it's one massive game.. I played Treasure Adventure Land over six years ago, and the game is very similar to the original. They've added a NG+ mode, improved the graphics and music. The controls are smooth and I did not experience any struggles with that.

There was a minor issue when I was first starting the game requiring me to enable a mode due to Win 10, but the issue is known, and there is a pinned work-around on the forums.

Collecting everything in the first playthrough took me ~16 hours. If you're fresh to the game, you'll find a very solid Adventure game. I would definitely recommend this to people who enjoy Metroidvanias or Adventuring Platformers.. wind waker meets 2D
