About This Game

Wild Guns Reloaded is a fast-paced arcade-style shooter, mixing the Wild West with steampunk. Play as Clint, Annie, Doris, or Bullet the dog with his sentry drone. There are some serious flaws with this game although it can be fun:
1) Multiplayer is unplayable in that you share lives and there are no continues.
2) This game should save your progress given how I struggled to beat the 1st level even on easy and have difficulty with the 2nd one (level select). I don't want to turn off the game and then have to redo the first level.
3) Continues should let you start at the last segment of the level rather than redo the entire level.
4) Refill my bombs after I finish the level. If even easy mode had these things, I'd recommend it so easily, pun intended.
5) Perhaps allow a mouse option for aiming/shooting and keys to move. With this on Steam, that would've been an ideal control setup so I can move my cursor to aim while dodging bullets, and then return fire.

With that out of the way, I enjoyed playing this shooting gallery and it's a nice, modern day challenge that makes even getting to a certain part of the level the first time on any difficulty level an accomplishment.

I like how the characters are, Clint/Annie are your balanced characters, Bullet is a dog/robot that lets you lock on and have agility, and Doris is your big demolitions woman, who is slow but her lightning attack can stop bullets and drop down faster. She uses charge type grenades but can't use the weapons the others have, though sometimes there's an auto charge upgrade. The fact Doris' lightning attacks makes her queen of close combat and has a beautiful character plus-size model is pretty rare.

You can also paralyze enemies by rapidly tapping to fire but it's difficult to use when you are barraged and need to dodge (thankfully you can roll to cancel out of your shooting animation, and bombs help you be invincible for a few frames), so I'd only recommend it vs elusive enemies. My recommendation just became stronger in that you can stun bosses with this while you are in the invincible frames of using your bomb. Made this recommendation so much stronger as learning this showed I improved greatly in the game and am beating levels.

The game also wows me with whatever arrives next and really tests my reflexes. All in all, try it out on sale and have realistic expectations unless you really like difficult games or need good multiplayer. I do recommend it for the character diversity.. This is a cool, unique shooting game, best for players that want to repeat levels over and over in pursuit of a perfect run. It's worth noting that multiplayer mode doesn't have any continues, so it's not a great couch co-op experience unless everybody playing is extremely good.. There is one con I could think of, just one : There's no online multiplayer. This means that if you absolutely want to play with friends, they NEED to be in the same room as you. This doesn't seem like a big problem, but not all your firends would be up to comming over just to play a game.

Other than that, I absolutely love this. I love the challenge, I dodging bullets and even shooting bullets. There is genuine satisfaction after beating an area and you feel like a pro when you beat a level without loosing a life. There's a difficulty selection but it doesn't really affect the real challenge of the game : shooting everyone and dodging attacks.

When you shoot you stand still and the cursor moves weither or not you're shooting; occationnaly, there's an ennemy with a knife that shows in the same plane as the player (that you can't shoot) so you have to hit the attack button when he's close for a melee attack; if you have trouble with a certain though ennemy, you can rapidly tap the attack button to charge a stunning attack to give some breathing time. If all of this seems hard, just know that you can do a quick dodge with the jump button, you could just jump OR as previously mentionned, you can shoot the ennemies' bullets.

But what really is going to be the source of your challenge is the character you pick. Clint and Annie are the standard "normal mode", they're the way the game is meant to be originally played; next they're Doris who's the slowest character, but she's has hard hitting grenades that can make quick work out most ennemies as well as a wider stun attack; and finally there's the dog Bullet, who has a remote drone that does the shooting, who's a smaller target, who can get picked up by his drone to float to the top of the screen and that doesn't die if the drone get's hit. Bullet's only drawbacks is that when you fire, the drones's cursor is locked to an single area until you stop firing and you can't shoot ennemy projectiles.

Animations are great, the remastered tracks are fantastic and it's fun all around, highly recommend this game.. Wild Guns Reloaded. Showing how successful is the mixture between western cowboys and steampunk since 1994, and geez... it's still as relentless as ever! And even better? Two new characters (Doris and Bullet) and two new stages. I experienced the Underground, and that level was determined to kick my rear! Doris was my savior in that stage, destroying almost anything, but that boss... that was quite difficult!

Okay, do I recommend it? Yes, I do, but keep in mind that this game will kick your rear if you're not up to snuff, so grab your handguns, or your shotgun, or your mortar grenades, or your combat droid and dog, and go and kick the steampunk wild west! For great justice!. Really great package here. Amazing graphics/sound design. The gameplay is tough as nails yet learnable, and the new characters are really fun to play.. Wish it had online multiplayer but it's still great to shoot robots as a doggo. This is a cool, unique shooting game, best for players that want to repeat levels over and over in pursuit of a perfect run. It's worth noting that multiplayer mode doesn't have any continues, so it's not a great couch co-op experience unless everybody playing is extremely good.. Multiplayer mode don't have continues.
