Pep Guardiola is after his first FA Cup trophy with City last winning under Roberto Mancini in 2011 when Yaya Touré’s goal helped them to a 1-0 win over Stoke.
Watford’s last and only appearance in the FA Cup Final came in 1984 under manager Graham Taylor when they lost 2-0 to Everton.
It’s a big occasion for Sir Elton John too as the Hornets fan has cancelled a concert in Copenhagen to be at the game with his two young sons leading Watford out.
Man City: Ederson; Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Zinchenko; De Bruyne, Fernandinho, D. Silva; B. Silva, Agüero, Sterling
Watford: Gomes; Femenía, Mariappa, Cathcart, Holebas; Hughes, Capoue, Doucouré, Pereyra; Gray, Deeney
All that stands between Manchester City and a domestic treble is Watford, a team who have lost all six of their previous meetings between the two teams.
Vincent Kompany expressed his desperation to win the FA Cup final during the post-match celebrations of City’s second straight Premier League title win, while Pep Guardiola made sure his soundbites after the game reflected a desire to complete that treble and not settle for the already bagged double. Basically, Watford have a fairly tough 90 minutes to prepare for.
So, how will both teams approach this game tactically?
Watford's preference for attacking through the middle
Brighton surrounded Ederson in the six-yard box from a corner, Glenn Murray snuck ahead of the front-post zonal marker and flicked a header past the goalkeeper to give Brighton a surprise lead. “We’re the shortest team in the league,” was Kompany’s explanation for the opening goal in City’s 4-1 win last week, and this is something Watford will be entirely aware of.
Troy Deeney brings an awful lot more to Javi Gracia’s team than goals (nine in the Premier League) and assists (five). An aggressive, determined targetman, he uses his strength to bully centre-backs and ended up winning the fourth highest number of aerial duels (208) all season. Kompany and Aymeric Laporte can expect a battle in the box when Watford are able to counter-attack, but might be more concerned that the Hornets have scored 12 league goals from set-pieces.
Watford defended in a 4-5-1 the last time they played City, losing 3-1, and may decide to stick with what they’re best at instead. Gracia is part of the growing trend of managers to use a 4-4-2, with two banks of four defending behind the ball, one striker as a target for outballs and another forward floating in behind.

Pep Guardiola's side go into English football's showpiece fixture on an enormous high having successfully retained their Premier League title with a 4-1 win over Brighton on the final day that meant Liverpool were forced to accept second place at the end of a captivating title race.
The Catalan, whose team also kept hold of the League Cup with a penalty-shootout win over Chelsea in February, will now be eager to win world football's oldest knockout competition for the first time.
City are five-time winners of the FA Cup, but have not lifted the trophy since 2011, when they beat Stoke under Roberto Mancini. This year, they eliminated Rotherham, Burnley, Newport, Swansea and Brighton to reach the final once more.
Looking to stop City claiming a trio of major honours this term are a Watford side making their first FA Cup Final appearance since 1984, when they lost 2-0 to Everton.
The Hornets have enjoyed a mostly successful campaign under Javi Gracia, though ended the Premier League season with three straight defeats and heavy back-to-back losses against Chelsea and West Ham - the latter costing them a top-half finish.

Watford had not won at Wembley since 1999 before substitute Gerard Deulofeu inspired them to a memorable 3-2 comeback win over Wolves in the semi-final.
They previously bested non-league Woking, Newcastle, QPR and Crystal Palace.
