Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when a pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers and her true destiny.
When army pilot Steve Trevor crashes on the warriors' secluded island paradise, disrupting the fictitious all-female sanctuary of Themyscira created by the Gods of Olympus, Princess Diana of the immortal Amazons aids for his rescue and wins the decisive right to escort him home, heading to an early 20th Century London to stop the war she believes is influenced by the God Ares. Leaving behind the only life she's ever known and entering the cynical world of men for the first time, torn between a mission to promote peace and her own warrior upbringing, as a "Wonder Woman," Diana must fight evil in a "war to end all wars," while hoping to unlock the potential of a humanity she doesn't always understand.
This is a Wonder Woman with a much harder edge than Lynda Carter's TV version. There are some things which are different, much different than what a fan of the TV series would expect.

The CGI and effects are of course obviously much advanced over the TV version. Actually as a pg-13, the sexuality in this one is much less than the old TV show. I always drooled for Lynda Carter. The way Gal Godot is presented in this one, while she is attractive, she is presented more as strong than as sexy. She is a strong and determined independent Super Hero with Super Powers.

As far as being charming as well as sexy, that is downplayed in this one. There are a few really conservative jokes about fidelity and sex manuals, but other than those, this is a totally family friendly action film. The CGI graphics are good, and the action sequences are good though some of the action is a bit intense. Danny Huston and David Thewlis are the main baddies and Chris Pine is a more personable Steve Trevor whose role is actually upgraded to a Spy in this plot line. Trevor actually has a lot of feelings expressed at times in his role for Wonder Woman. He is much different than the Trevor on the TV series.

The plotting is a little muddled and crazy, but comic book fans of Wonder Woman should be happy with the results. It could have been done better though. Still, this should sell a lot of tickets. It is good. As someone else pointed out, "1914, it is not." It started out quite fun, but swiftly degenerated into loonish stupidity, highly dependent on the ability to do slo mo as she flips around killing loads of people.

The premise that she could be instrumental in winning World War I is a hideous insult to the people who fought and died in that absolute hell.

So it trivializes WWI as well as stretches our ability to suspend our disbelieve far past the snapping point. Do not waste your time. Wonder Woman is as much about a superhero rising as it is about a world deserving of her, and Diana’s hard-won insistence on battling for humanity (no matter how frequently they disappoint) adds the kind of gravitas and emotion that establishes it as the very best film the DCEU has made yet. There’s only one word for it: wonderful.
The following FAQ entries may contain spoilers. Only the biggest ones (if any) will be covered with spoiler tags. Spoiler tags have been used sparingly in order to make the page more readable. For detailed information about the amounts and types of (a) sex and nudity, (b) violence and gore, (c) profanity, (d) alcohol, drugs, and smoking, and (e) frightening and intense scenes in this movie, consult the IMDb Parents Guide for this movie. The Parents Guide for Wonder Woman can be found here. No, there is not. No. This film's story takes place 100 years before the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and seeing the previously released film does not give any major insight into the story or characters of Wonder Woman. However, this film does begin and end with a framing scene set in modern day, where Diana Prince, the secret identity of Wonder Woman, receives the original glass photo plate of the photograph she took during World War I, which leads into the flashback of the rest of the film. This ties into Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice from a scene where Bruce Wayne discovers a digital copy of the photo which lead to him learning that Diana Prince was Wonder Woman. It's possible to answer this question by comparing the pieces of evidence made available by the film. First, because Diana is the only child on the island, we can assume that Diana's and Themyscira's ages are one and the same. We have no way of knowing how old Diana is in this story, so it makes the most sense to tie her chronological age to Gal Gadot, who was 32 when this movie was released. Second, Greek Mythology's tradition dates back to the 9th century BC, although historians theorize that those written traditions are recording oral history that dates as far back as the 12th century BC. Therefore, by comparing those two time spans, we can postulate that for every year that passes on the island of Themyscira, about 100 years have passed in the world of Man. This estimate of time ratio ( or rather ageing ratio ) is supported by Diana seeming to be almost the same age in the present day, as she was during WW1. No, nothing that happens at the end of Wonder Woman indicates that World War II would no longer happen within the DC Extended Universe movies. This question comes up because Ares, the god of war, is killed by Wonder Woman at the end of the film which leads some viewers to think this means war will never break out among humans again, preventing World War II and any others. However, when Ares reveals his true identity to Wonder Woman he explains that he does not create the desire in humans to start war but that they already have it in them. Ares simply sees the wars that humans make on their own and pushes them along so that it feeds his power. So the death of Ares in this film does not mean that humans would no longer engage in war. A hundred years later, we see in Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad that the nations of the world still have militaries. Also, in a real life historical context, World War II began as a direct result of the sociopolitical climate in Germany after the First World War. Wonder Woman helps to end the First World War, but does not have any part on those larger historical factors which cause Hilter's later rise to power.
