About This Game

In Kerbal Space Program, take charge of the space program for the alien race known as the Kerbals. You have access to an array of parts to assemble fully-functional spacecraft that flies (or doesn’t) based on realistic aerodynamic and orbital physics. Launch your Kerbal crew into orbit and beyond (while keeping them alive) to explore moons and planets in the Kerbol solar system, constructing bases and space stations to expand the reach of your expedition.

Kerbal Space Program features three gameplay modes. In Science Mode, perform space experiments to unlock new technology and advance the knowledge of Kerbalkind. In Career Mode, oversee every aspect of the space program, including construction, strategy, funding, upgrades, and more. In Sandbox, you are free to build any spacecraft you can think of, with all parts and technology in the game.

One of the best games I've ever played. Best trade off between real life space exploration, and a game\/simulator.

Graphics are getting old, especially on planets (lightning was left untouched for quite a long time),
Physics may be a little wonky at times (it improved vastly upon years tho!)
But it's still the best in space program and space navigation simulation.

You'll never be as proud in a simulation game as when you land your first pod on the moon without crashing.
Physics and navigation are so realists it's a technical and scientific challenge.
You'll have to carefully design your crafts, propulsion, payloads to achieve the feat of reaching the furthest bodies.
On my side I especially love building planes along some mods that make the game "almost" as good as some high end flying simulators, except here you build your plane.. This game is great and it teaches you physics. Simple review: this game is fun but complicated. More in depth: you can be good at this game. It is possible. However, that is really hard and I had more fun messing around in sandbox mode than trying to complete goals in career. Also, the DLC is only worth it if you have loads of money to spend or are really into the game. I didn't want to spend the time figuring out the mission builder but if you think you can do it go ahead. New parts were cool though. Overall great game, even though I'm bad at it, just fun to play with rockets.. Since downloading this game I have started consuming NASA podcasts and Scott Manley videos (if you've played this game, you know him too) ravenously. 150 hours in and I plan on reaching ten times that. I have no idea how a sandbox game can be so educational, funny, entertaining, challenging, and creative.

To give you an idea of what you may be doing when you learn the mechanics and controls of the game here's one of my latest missions. I had taken on a huge contract to put a research station in an orbit around a moon of Kerbin. I also had tourist contracts and pressure from the general public to explore Minmus. So I constructed a 500,000 Kerbal dollar ship that operated in 6 stages.

1: Fire heavy rockets to exit atmosphere
2: MORE heavy rockets to establish and circularize Kerbal orbit, enter Minmus Hohmann transfer, and brake to circularize Minmus orbit.
3: Separate science lab and supporting experiments (including a cyclotron) with 3 scientists and an engineer inside to leave in orbit.
4: Fire engines of 5-seat lander holding pilot and tourists in the orbital retrograde vector to allow the moon's gravity to pull me in and land. Brake using engines and land on moon.
5: Leave empty fuel tanks and escape gravity well of Minmus. Burn into Hohmann transfer back into Kerbin's atmosphere and use final fuel braking on descent to Kerbin.
6: Drop final fuel tanks and let heat shields slow the lander before releasing drogue chutes and full chutes.

This is just an average mission you may be able to plan, build ships for, and execute.
I can't recommend this game enough. The possibilities are endless more than any other game I have played before. It may not be for you, but you should at least give it a try.. Realistic physics, lovely planets, beautiful views. 11\/10.. Download this mod to improve your game

No joke, it made my game 10\u00d7 better. What can I say about Kerbal Screenshot Program? Well, for starters my steam screenshot folder for Kerbal is 162mb big. LOL. If you are a space buff, this is your new sandbox. Like literal sandbox. Not one of those "advertised sandboxes" that hold your hand or restrict your options. The sky(box) is literally your limits.

Wanna play Elon Musk and go to space? Gotcha.
Wanna play Lockheed Skunkwerks and build wild planes? Covered.
Wanna learn an ACTUAL solid introduction into orbital mechanics? You bet they got that.
Wanna watch little green men revel and revile at the creations to bring them home\/kill them with? Oh they got personality.
Wanna just blow things up? Gloriously
Wanna discover EVERY sci-fi franchise you've ever loved has LIED to you about space flight dynamics? Buy this game, now.

Honestly, I cannot find a fault with this game. Anything it may be lacking for you personally can absolutely be made up for by the simply outstanding community of modders and content creators within this game. Myself, I've put 731 hours into this game so far. And i've hardly scratched the surface. There are still multiple bodies in the vanilla solar system I've yet to successfully make it to and back. And thats with 731 hours in-game and a near doctorate level understanding of the math and physics involved (HUGE physics\/math nerdboi, here). The scale of this game is astonishing, especially when you factor mods adding more planets\/new planets\/new star systems and galaxies to explore.

And I'm writing this review a mere 2 days before the Breaking Ground DLC drops, which prompted this review. Here we have a development team SECOND TO NONE. As we've seen with various previous updates and DLC, if the fan-base ask, they are rewarded. This latest DLC adds a whole new variety of content within the vanilla system, adding unique planetary features and science packages. Now just landing on the ice moon of Vall isn't good enough. Now you gonna wanna park that lander close to one of the new features. Perhaps a large chunk of lunar ice would be interesting to return. Maybe you wanna park next to that geyser\/volcano looking object and observe it.

I could wax lyrically all day about this game. Its not even really a game in my eyes. More of an educational tool that just happens to be ridiculously fun. This game has literally given us 8 year old children that could fully and completely manage to fly a satellite around the enormous black vacuum beyond our clouds.

This game was worth the 34 dollars CAD i paid for it. I'd pay the current 55 CAD it costs. I'd paid well into the triple digits for this game, knowing the joy and education it has brought me. There is literally no price-tag i could put on the level of greatness that is Kerbal Space Program.

In closing, I want to say if you are on the fence about this game, trust me. Purcahse, install, then build yourself a rocket to get over that fence. You will not be sorry.
