Before I started playing this re-release (I can't stand revamps, HD remasters and similar gimmicks), I looked at the reviews. At a time I checked the reviews, the most were the negative ones, and currently they still are. The most of the reviews say that nothing is changed in the game. Also those "0.1 hours" reviews seem like, oh let's just review the game, so those idiot developers could get as much as negative reviews because I hate them. I played around 8 hours in the game, and here are my impressions. First, let's start with the NEGATIVE ones: - the visuals are the same - the combat is still rather clunky and there is a lot of "misses", which is pretty tiresome - some locations in the game look beautiful, but others look. not so much - if you don't have the patience, you will have difficult time with some quests because there is no tutorial to explain how some things work in the game - bugs Now, let's shift to the POSITIVE aspects of the game: - the story is pretty good, and for some strange reason, it grows on you. I want to do more and explore more - much better map - the world is HUGE, and there is a lot to see and to find - crapload of loot - much better inventory system to manage that loot - "crafting" spells can be fun - there is a certain charm in the stuff that is not explained, because you have to figure them out by yourself. If you have the patience, the whole experience can be pretty rewarding - the developer still updates the game, which is a good sign - you get the game for free if you already have the original Finally, to say that the game is "crap" is just pure bashing. The game isn't all that great, but it isn't that bad either like others want to assure potential buyers. It sits somewhere in the middle, between "I like it" or "I hate it". I for one like it, and I would recommend it. If you have the patience.. Fun old school style RPG, which should frustrate instant-gratification idiots who want everything handed to them. If you take the time to peruse the manual and explore the game, you'll have a wonderful time.This edition seems like it was built upon the updated (and less-buggy) engine used for its sequel, Wave of Darkness. I highly recommend this, and worth getting Wave of Darkness, as well.. Dreamatrix loves their game more than we do. If I worked for them and read the negative reviews the first release had, I'd bury my head in the sand and change my name. Not these guys, they keep trying, and tryng, and trying to make it better. The game is kinda buggy and kinda , but has a quant enjoyable charm to it. So I gotta thumb up it. Cheers to the Developers! one day they'll make the greatest RPG someday, this isn't the game but it's worth a look.. The original title was very rough around the edges. Perhaps too much for someone's taste. Personally, I managed to enjoy it nevertheless. "Reborn" is a much, much better experience. You can't call it a "broken" game, but it does have some questionable design choices that may be uncomfortable for some. I'm pretty adaptable, so I'm enjoying the game so far. Also, the game is free for the owners of the original title. Kudos to the team for that. Will post a more in-depth review later.. Worst game I've evr played. Level Editor will not start due to some missing Scintilla or something dll. Only reason I bought this game is because it has a level editor. When I asked in the discussions before buying about the level editor the devs pretty much just blew me off. They said, yeah it has one but wouldn't say anything else. So I'm not going to bother asking them for help getting the POS to work. Way it is.. Even with the "Reborn" tag the game is not playable. The horrid pathfinding prevented the game from being playable. Game would freeze and crash trying to cross bridges, enter ships, walk up stairs, etc. Too many facets of the game just don't work. Feels like an early alpha build.. Still an unplayable piece of crap, and will probably be the same after 10 rereleases.. They've had a rough start but I have always been glad to support the work they do. Bringing back a lot of the things that made role-playing games great isn't easy and it sure as hell isn't cheap, but these guys put their nose to the grindstone and have released a unique world that I love to play in. Sometimes the UI is a little rough to get used to but once you figure it out you're in for some good old-school hacking and slashing with more different realms for you to explore than you can shake a stick at. Thank you for fighting the good fight. I hope to see more from you soon.. Bought it because of the beautiful woman. Recommended it because of the beautiful woman. If she asked me again with her soothing voice, I would do it all again. Better avoid that video in the future.
