The game is just as fun as on the Wii. Looks good and plays good! I have only played with an xbox controller and there is no way to rebind the controls, I hope this functionality will be added later. The clunkcy controls and UI is similar as they were on the Wii but does not harm the expereience of playing the game.. Absolutely adore this game! So underrated and so much fun. If you like pikmin or RTS you will love this game. Boss battles are all different and EPIC. Game is long and rewarding with different ways to achieve the end goal. This is an HD remake and the game looks great. There are a few stutter moments with frame rate, but there will probably be a fix soon.. This game would be awesome.if it wasn't one of the worst ports i've ever played. I liked the game to the point that I toughed it out through most of the bugs and found ways around it.but i've finally hit a wall to where the game is unbeatable because of a bug and there is no way around it. Besides the literal game breaking bug, there are visual glitches, audio glitches, the game will crash on you if you do not have it on the right settings and even then it still will crash on you just not as frequently. Playing it on the keyboard is almost impossible, in fact for some reason or another certain functions just wouldn't work with the keyboard, had to use a controller to get the camera to turn. it takes a lot to make me this mad at a game to the point of writting a bad review, but I dont' want other people to be disapointed like I was. Find another way to play it if you really want to, but do not get it on the PC. Sorry for any poorly spelled words but honestly, I don't fill like running this through word first.. Little King's story was an amazing gem for Wii systems ( I don't know if it was available for any other console systems ). I was really happy to find this game available here on Steam. It's graphics are good and very cute. The story is a little silly and fun but not annoyingly cheesy. The music is great, it's taken from mostly classical Western pieces that you probably will find very familiar. The music is generally bright and cheery so it's not the kind of calm classical music that puts you to sleep but it provides a very nice background music throughout the game. The game isn't overly challenging but challenging enough to make it fun and a little bit addicting. It's a little bit of RPG, a little kingdom building, but a fairly casual play. The game itself is great. The only issue I have with this game is that this PC port version is not modified to really work well for PC. The game obviously was designed around the use of a controller but the port doesn't do a good job translating the interface to a keyboard system. There is the option to use a controller instead but I don't have one. Although the port alsows one to use the keyboard it doesn't allow you to change the key bindings. I don't feel the keys used were well optimized for keyboard use. I'm an arrow key lover, it makes the most sense to me when games use arrow keys for movement. This game is setup for WASD instead. That's taken me some getting used to since I haven't HAD to use that in a game for probably 25-30 years. and even then it wasn't most of the games I played. they were usually arrow key, text parser, or later point & click. I would love to be able to rebind the movement keys but also to rebind the keys for other functions so that they make more sense. Yes I have gotten used to it when I play but I tend to fortget the keys they use between sessions because they really are not well thought out in my opinion. Many ported games offer the option to rebind the keys to something else. If you already have a classic controller you may find that easier to use with this game. It's frustrating enough that I considered buying the Steam Controller when it was 50% off but I ended up waiting to long while trying to make up my mind.. This game is so wonderfully weird. I played it as a kid and was terrified of what I now consider its charm. Wonderful tactics, great expansion, and a very fun gameloop. I've encountered a few issues, but none that have substantially inhibited my gameplay. $20 is a bit of an asking price for what amounts to an HD version of a Wii game, but I paid full price and feel very satisfied. 8/10.. Little King's Story is a game released in 2009 and was exclusive to Wii. It's a charming little game with great music and "Pikmin-esque" gameplay, while not being as challenging. I played the original game and after playing this version, I can say this is pretty much the same package that players got on the Wii, for better or worse. The controls are kind of annoying, and if you have one I would strongly recommend using a controller so you don't have to bend your hands across the keyboard. The camera turning is slow, but not much of an issue since you won't find UMA (monsters) hiding behind walls often. The movement is 8 directional like the original Wii version. Sometimes you might struggle with aiming, but your aiming line often snaps onto targets just by being near them. Along with this I've had some audio issues with my Dolby headphones and had to use the system speakers in order to hear the game, and there were a few times where I had frame drops (which isn't saying much since I'm using a subpar laptop). The game speed is also locked to the framerate, meaning that forcing the framerate to go above the original 30FPS will actually speed the game up. If you can learn to use the controls, get around frame and audio issues and start the game, you've got yourself a decent game. The game plays out in a story mode, where you must travel the land, defeat guardians and kings and expand your kingdom for total world domination. Throughout this you can unlock new professions for your people, allowing you to progress further through the game or trivialise certain enemies/obstacles. You can take an increasing amount (initially 5, but that quickly increases to about 15 and then eventually 30) of townsfolk and order them to fight or work for you. Most of your entourage will be made up of grunts and warriors, while your other men would allow you to dig for Bol (the currency), chop fallen logs and mine rocks. Some of these people have special abilities, such as Miners being able to crack large boulders and instantly kill rock monsters, while Chefs can quickly dispatch chickens. All of these people, including yourself, have a certain amount of hit points, and when it reaches zero, that person dies. The game is pretty forgiving though, since the recently deceased have a fairly high chance of showing up again on the beach the next day. Don't take this game for face value, it does get really weird down the line. You'll be subjected to (STORY SPOILERS) multiple, mostly narcissistic and very eccentric kings such as King Duvroc, a heavy drinker who spews burning hot liquid and freezing cold mist from drinking too much, King T.V. Dinnah, a literal television who is also the host of many self-broadcasted channels, and King Jumbo Champloon, an eraser. You also acquire multiple wives throughout the story and then have to divorce all but one at the end, only for her to become VORED BY A GIANT RAT . It's kind of messed up, but that's okay because (MORE SPOILERS) it was all part of your imagination anyway. Don't get me wrong though, the buildup to it was really clever . I'd personally recommend buying this on the Wii/Wii U, but if you don't own either of those, this is the closest you're going to get and you should definitely get it.. A good game, but an absolutely terrible port filled with gamebreaking bugs, crashes, a very poorly implemented 60fps hack, and more. play/emulate the original or get the Vita version, even that's better than this..
