Does not work on Ubuntu 16.04. Blackscreen EDIT: Switched to recommendation.. While the idea is interesting and different, I cannot recommend this game. The mechanic that the AI has to "figure" out what the player is trying can do can be extremely frustrating at times. Think of Tricco from The Last Guardian if you've played that. The story is kind of not there and seems kind of random just for the sake of having puzzles. Which I guess could be the point given I think she's supposed to be dreaming. But the game keeps it open to some awkward interpretation that you have no real basis to interpret anything on .. Cool game. I like the climate, music and riddles. Awesome that there were also some easter eggs.. Really nice game, with few interesting puzzles. Did a fun little video on it. Found the game pretty fun for what it is. lot of art inspired stuff in it.. Played this with my girlfriend, she loved the game as did I.. Selma and The Wisp is an indie puzzle platformer. You play as the wisp who guides Selma throughout most of the game. As for story there isn't much of one that's explained so we will go off the description from the steam page. "Imagine you were alone and afraid. Imagine you were lost with no one to help. Imagine you were a child facing its worst nightmare. In utter darkness even the dimmest trickle of light means hope", So take from that what you will. The game starts off with Selma being woken up by a monster under her bed and like anyone else would you run to hide in your closet. From there the game takes a Lion, Witch and The Wardrobe twist where as your closet takes you to a mysterious place. The graphics were appealing and as usual were what made me interested in the game in the first place. The game is done in low-poly graphics giving it it's own unique look from most other indie titles. The level designs were actually pretty good too. There are a lot of areas you get to explore and they all look really good. In the end they are very simple and easy to run through. If anything I noticed Selma and The Wisp was designed for more casual and relaxed players. The overal soundtrack to Selma and The Wisp was very fitting to the games eerie feel. The sound effects were fitting too. Everything to set up this games atmosphere was very well done. Gameplay - The Good - Controller compatable - The mechanics of controlling Selma and solving puzzles were very unique to me and was one of it's best features. - The low-poly graphics were also something I'm not use to seeing. These kind of graphics don't work for all games but definitely worked out for Selma and The Wisp. - Plenty of checkpoints so dying had little consequence. - Ran smooth. No crashes or frames drops. - There's quite the variety of areas to explore. Every area introduces new ways for you to die. - Overal calm and relaxing game. None of the puzzles or platforming were overly difficult. - The Bad - Puzzles are extremely easy and they didn't get any more challenging throughout the game. - Lack of story explanation. I felt like there was a story somewhere in the game but I may have missed it or didn't get it either way. - Controls worked for the most part but were clumsy when it came to more specific maneuvers. - Very short. Hour and a half maybe even less mattering on how quick you solve the puzzles. - Price $10.99 Canadian. Little much. More around the $5 range. Final Thoughts Overal I will recommend this game but only if 1. The price drops or is on sale for the $5 dollar range and 2. If your looking for a relaxing casual game. Don't pick this up if you're looking for a challenge.. Wow. A great little gem of a game. The artwork & soundtrack are amazing, really sets the tone for it. The controls are really simple and easy to pick up, most of the challenges aren't that difficult but there's a few that had me stumped and frustrated as Selma died again and again. Well worth the price for this game.. This game is timed. You don't have a chance to think and explore properly as you are on a timer. The fact that you can save oftenly doesn't take away the timed game play. A huge disappointment. I wish Steam lets you know that you're buying timed, quick response games. I wish I had my money back for this game.. This game is good to waste a few hours on but lacks decent narrative and the art style, rather than being creepy, just looks bad.
