Reality shows are loved by TV viewers all over the world. Stars and ordinary people become their participants, but in either case the rating of the program can be extremely high. Intellectual reality shows are a certain charge for the mind, a game that you can simply watch or take passive participation in by independently completing the tasks of the participants. The reality show format implies work without repeated takes, the absence of a rigid script and the simulation of special conditions. Perhaps these are the basic rules and then it all depends on the imagination of the authors. In fact, literally any situation can be turned into an entertaining reality show: from job search to shopping and solving problems of survival.

The main difference is that British TV shows and sitcoms usually have one author - again, recall Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag or Lisa McGee's Derry Girls - and therefore they are shorter and usually consist of from 6-8 episodes. At the same time, in the States, a screenwriter is not one person, but a whole team of authors who collectively work under the supervision of an executive producer or showrunner to create up to 22 episodes in one season.
Usually, as the plot develops, each scriptwriter gets to write his own "author" episode.
However, according to screenwriter Gareth MacLaine (who participated in the writing of episodes of the British soap operas "Coronation Street" and "Emmerdale Farm"), the showrunner of an American TV show always has the right to rewrite something so that the action remains logical and consistent.
The production timelines also differ: in Britain, the entire season is filmed in advance  https://www.ukairdates.com/   while in America the authors often add episodes along the way. In Britain this only happens on the set of "soap" when new episodes are stamped every week.

A whole round table of scriptwriters is quite possibly writing better than one person does, but the reason for this expansion is also purely commercial, since the production studios, at the end of the initial broadcast, usually sell the rights to show TV series and sitcoms to other broadcasters and the more episodes, the more income will be.

all these reality shows in my opinion are complete nonsense. however, the producers of such reality shows make very good money. especially if the storyline is good. the writing process is very complex and usually changes very often. such reality shows are often pre-recorded. how much such services cost is anyone's guess.
