About This Game

Beyond Eden is a visual novel set in the Victorian era, centering on the themes of "love-hate" and "revenge."
The player enters the shoes of Alex Wake, a young businessman who returns to a Baron’s mansion where he stayed as a boy. Bearing a deep grudge against the Baron and his family, Alex seeks to manipulate them and their employees in order to lead the family down the path of destruction.
Alex can develop dark and complex relationships with 6 male characters. It depends on you, the player, to steer the story towards foreseeable tragedies or help Alex discover the faint chance of redemption.

I've just spent way too long updating vndb accordingly to edit and include all of the VAs but...MY GOODNESS.My revelations below. If you don't care for VAs, skip below the horrendous bulleting.

  [**] LOL YAS my favorite glasses-wearing-skeleton-loving Doc is back as another man in uniform...in glasses...with another obsession...

  [**] My least Nameless favorite character redeemed as my favorite route in Beyond Eden
  
• Nameless Red = Oscar
  [**] Nameless' Hero of Justice as the next Baron in line and the epitome of a true Gentleman? YAAS
  
• Nameless Yuri = Doctor Morris
  [**] My favorite Nameless character in an even more mature role but...his route wasn't easy to listen/read through because I liked him so much T_T
  
• Mystic Messenger Yoosung = Edward
  [**] This revelation made me gasp. I never really really liked Yoosung but got intrigued with Edward and wasn't disappointed. HOMEBOI NEEDS A ROUTE DEVS
  
• While I'm wishing...can the Baron get a route too? :> redemption story? insight into his thinking? mebs? n,n
  
• Essentially, if you want to hear these VAs in more mature, adult scenarios and enjoy or don't mind BL, GET THIS GAME. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

So outside of the VA fangirling, the plot is pretty interesting as you can garner from the summary and from other reviews so I won't divulge here. And although there isn't MUCH romance, there is great character development in some of the routes not only for the MC/Alex but for the other characters as well. It's honestly one of those games where I ended up not really playing for the sexual content (although...no complaints :x huhuuu), but I actually wanted to read on and see what the heck some of the characters were thinking/planning/going to do next.

also let me just say, based on some of the reviews, i was fearing the ends/routes were going to be soul crushingly awful but they are NO WHERE as bad as I thought. Yes, there's non-con smexy time and one route in particular was a bit hard to read through (my poor Yuri ;_;) but none seriously questioned my sanity or in humanity that made me want to mind bleach the hell out of my memories (cough DMMD COUGH CHOKE COUGH Hadaka ♥♥♥♥♥uji ugh).

My only issues would be:

• Kind of short for a $30+ game and doesn't have full voice acting (even though I went back and chose every single dialogue choice available (because I really wanted to see the different character reactions, worth it!), got every ending, procured every CG and it all took less than 18 hours).
  
• Wish they offered subtitles in both the original Korean alongside English
  
• The only other issue I had was that some of the endings...didn't feel like endings. Felt like I read the penultimate chapter and the book just ends! I really craved for an epilogue or something with more closure, but maybe they can add DLCs? If so...THAT'D BE PERFECTION.

But seriously, this game would be one of my BL favs, potentially rivalling Luckydog, NYT, coming out on top and lowkey DMMD orz So if you like BLs with a bit of intrigue, complex characters, and don't mind not having a lovey dovey romance but still just as satisfying character interactions, get the game or at least test out the demo :]. I personally recommend this game 100 percent, trigger warning though for some very dubiously consensual sexual scenes and sometimes straight up♥♥♥♥♥♥ If you are sensitive about that you should probably not play this game.
That is not all this game is though, and that is why everyone else should give it a shot. The story is complex and every route you play through gives you one more piece of the puzzle of what exactly happened here all those years ago that twisted the main protagonist into this vengeance driven hate filled person.

The music is awesome, the art is beautifully detailed.

Two things tho, sometimes there is like five-ten seconds of silence between every music loop and it can feel very jarring, bringing you out of the immersion. A very minor thing I know, but it was just something that I picked up on that bothered me.

Secondly, the sentences are sometimes awkwardly worded and probably not the best translated, and there are some misspelled words and sometimes they post the exact same sentence two times in a row, but it's all minor flaws and barely distract from the story, if at all.. Beautiful - a beautifully dark plot with an antihero protagonist and well-written characters with one of the best plots and writing I have ever had the great opportunity to read!

The voice acting was excellent and the art was perfect to me if a bit flawed at times.

Anyway it's a great game and I can't wait to finish it.

Plenty of replayability with a bunch of endings.

It seemed short but I only played 1 of 17 endings.

My only complaint is that it seems kind of short for each ending and I like longer routes especially for the high price but I don't care that much.

I'd buy many more similar games and I hope the developers make many more games like these for Steam in English! <3. This VN was really good! The stories for each of the characters are different enough to be interesting yet they are all interconnected so that by playing them all you get the full story of what happened. I love the music, the artwork is amazing and those sound effects (I died laughing when I first heard them because I thought of the people in the sound booth recording them and different ways those effects could be procured).

The one thing that I have to say is that for $30 I expected to have ALL of the characters to have a route and was upset that Edward did not have one...his could have been the most exciting and dramatic!! Instead, my pervy self died instantly having to read the child's mandatory route... don't get me wrong it's nice for the backstory but I seriously wanted to walk into the fire!! Please give Edward a route; he deserves one after all the sh*t he has gone through lol!!

The crazed and unstable butler is my Fav (btw I was seriously shocked that he didn't kill himself, I really thought that he did and I was kinda sad that he didn't but I got over it when I saw his face)! Also, I kinda wanted to see some more serious yaoi jealousy (possibly though the "use" of the easy chick?) because there were plenty of chances to throw that in there.

Despite the two small gripes above this is a good game to have in your collection!! I will be on the lookout for Edward's route And any future projects from you guys...Thank you for your hard work!!. I love this game. It's one of my favorites. The story is great. Revenge, love, lust, and mystery.. A complex and intriguing story, beautiful sprite/CG art, and real erotic heat mostly make up for weak background art and (especially) an awful translation. Studio Pieplus: please, please, please have a native English speaker edit your next translation! It's not just that the language is stilted; there are places where the translator wrote literally the opposite of the meaning of the original line. You're asking too much for this game to offer something so unprofessional in this respect.. couldv'e been great. on the surface, this is a beautiful game with gorgeous visuals, spectacular voice acting, a fitting soundtrack, and a well-paced, intriguing storyline.

in the end, however, this game is seriously problematic NOT because it's dark, or the fact that it contains sexual assault - it was the treatment and portrayal of the matter.♥♥♥♥♥♥scenes occur inevitably in at least 3 of the routes, and all of those routes have the possibility for a "good end." that is seriously misleading. there is no relationship that can develop from a basis of manipulation/assault into something healthy or positive, and acting like it does presents a false and dangerous message. this kind of mentality is one that is perpetuated by the BL industry in Japan, and while it is nice that this game avoids some of the common tropes from that sphere of influence (i.e. stereotypical sexual roles, sexualization of minors) it fails to rise above it completely through its justification of sexual abuse and manipulation.

yes, most people here will eagerly dismiss the claims i'm making and argue that fiction has no effect on the real ideology despite plenty of research that suggests otherwise. my one negative review will probably not influence anyone, which makes me sad becuase i really did want to love this game, it's honestly such a shame.. I had this game on my wishlist months before it came out: to say I'm pleased with the game as a whole is such an understatment. Despite its questionable conent (which is highly enjoyable regardless, along with taleted and skilled voice acting.) It was so fun to play through each character- to unravel this well put together story, to grow and destory relationships was so sophisticated and wondrous. I've never found a BL visual novel to be so enjoyable for the plot and for the "plot". I'm so excited to see any new updates for the game and hope in the future this fantastic comapny creates another great BL game since we are much lacking such amazing games in Steam, BL, and Visual Novel community.. I love this game. It's one of my favorites. The story is great. Revenge, love, lust, and mystery.
